Gerry Faust died on the 11th.....this surprised me.....thought he had already passed. He was 89.

And John Robinson passed away yesterday. Also 89.

Father time is undefeated, folks.....enjoy life while you can.

Robinson had big shoes to fill when McKay left to take the HC job for the Bucs.

Actually met Faust in passing on campus back on the early 00s.

Was nice enough of a guy as a person. But he was also one of his generations worst hires for college.

I met him around the same time frame at ND.

Like you said, he was a bad hire, but I was glad to see him being welcomed by the ND fans at the tailgate. He was treated like a rockstar.

He seemed like a genuinely good guy, also very humble.

Looking back, it seems so unreal that ND hired a high school coach. That particular “outside the box” thinking will never happen again. Anywhere.

Guy legit didn't have a bad thing to say about anything ND.

I think for all the everything that happened to him. He came to peace with the idea that if not for ND he would never have entered the national lexicon on anything.

I have talked with other ND fans about if you knew that you were dealt that hand. Would you have taken it or not.

Trent Dilfer went from HS in TN to UAB. Think he is in his 2nd or 3rd season there.
