my opinion, i dont like hired guns,
when your program starts recruiting well and begins to win on a regular basis, and attracts the best players in the country,
you begin to lose a connection or loyalty to the school and a love for the jersey.
what you gain is a great talent that can hopefully be developed and coached, and just maybe, they'll come to love the school.

Good for Sark for taking a stand, I’m sure he’s a principled guy and doesn’t have any high profile guys who’ve transferred IN to the Longhorn family (or strongly urged bottom of the depth chart guys to hit the portal to make room for said players).

Hell, I’m sure it’s not like he left a job to take another high profile job breaking his promise to the “kids” he recruited and preached loyalty and family too.

Agreed. I think this is part of the reason that Kirby is filling the staff with guys that played for or attended UGA. He also successfully recruits Georgia heavily, while still bringing in top talent from out of state. He learned while at Bama how important that connection is.

But will he take a player from the portal?

I don't think many people are against players being able to transfer. However, I can understand why a coach wouldn't want players entering the portal just to look around. That said, it's mostly 3rd parties that are shopping players around. By the time they hit the portal, many of them already know where they are going.
