I live a block away from Lake Taneycomo. I try to go trout fishing at least once a week. There are some really nice browns and rainbows.I get my share of freshwater fish because I live beside the Mississippi river, but I don't get seafood very often unfortunately. I really like crab and shrimp. Halibut is great as well, but when we were In Portland a month or so ago I had some trout (the kind im not sure) and it was fabulous. Best fish I've ever eaten bar none.
Smoked mullet is a big thing around here in the fall. We call the local newspaper the Mullet Wrapper.
I have never fished for trout. The dnr stocks rainbows in some of the little rivers and streams in north eastern Iowa but I've never been up there to fish. So, do you troll for them in the main lake then? Your in pretty good large mouth country down there near bull shoals. Here where I'm at in south eastern Iowa, catfish is probably king with some good bass fishing (mostly large mouths but a few smallies) crappie, bluegills, and also the walleye and striper runs in the spring below the lock and dams.I live a block away from Lake Taneycomo. My wife is a salmon lover. At one time she had two brothers that lived in Alaska, and when they would come visit they would each bring a big cooler of salmon and halibut home with them. When they would leave we would pack the coolers full of beef and pork.Blackened Salmon and Alaskan snow crab legs are my favorites.

I think Captain Ds are primarily in the south and Midwest. Basically the same thing as Long John Silvers. You're just fucking with me now, right? Captain D's is a national fast food chain that serves "Seafood".
You said "Horsey sauce". Down our way, that's a fast food term.
Blackened, for the win!!I believe that’s Arby’s sauce.
Capt D’s has the malt vinegar that makes their fish almost edible.
Also, smoked mullet is nasty.
Swordfish for the win.....
