In IT I see it all the time... hell I have a young lady who works for me now that has a Masters in Chemical Engineering but she has been working in IT for the last five years now. Another one of my crew has a Masters in Theology ... go figure.

I'd be willing to bet that the number is less than half. This is why I'm a proponent of trade schools. I don't have a degree per se, but I could have transferred all of my military schools into a degree in Soviet Studies.....which is about as useless as tits on a boar hog.

I'm definitely more content with all the different skills I've learned over the years. They range from personnel management to butcher to heavy equipment operator, with a few years experience in industrial maintenance thrown in. I'm confident that I can always find a job pretty quick.

I advise almost all the youngsters these days to go to a two year vocational specific program/trade school. A lot of theses degrees/certificates are 100% paid for through programs. No student loan debt! Unless you are going to be one of the high paid professionals (MD, Lawyer, rocket scientist, etc.) and are dedicated and competent to do those lines of work, forget about it. The days of "I have a college degree and now I'm rich" is long forgone. You wont recover financially. And I speak from someone with a masters degree.

What I actually DID was quantify it.

He simply was able to quantify it. I'm not putting myself in his category. He was a physicist. I'm not a physicist. I'm a statistician. I recognize statistical methods.
Only a small part has anything at all to do with me. Whether or not any of my methods are utilized to anyone's benefit remains to be seen. Am I proud? Yeah I guess I am.
I took something rather ad hoc in it's presentation and legitimizes it. That's progress. It's been painfully slow in it's execution. I'm disappointed how hard-headed some people are to it's relevance.
It would appear at least ONE championship was selected inappropriately. Texas Christian probably ought to have advanced (by my method, obviously) against Oregon.
I was against an extended championship, meaning Oregon likely was the official NC.
But Ohio St is recognized for beating Oregon.
Why? Do I really have to explain why? Belt is why. Ohio St claimed the Belt NC. 2014-15.
Yet people have to audacity to say it isn't a NC? It damn well better be! Otherwise there isn't a championship being represented. Yes Virginia there IS a Santa Claus. He lives at the North Pole. He has a litany of people assisting him in his work. Elves. If only the same thing could be said about me. But, alas that isn't the case here.

It appears the vast majority of people here know decidedly less (if that's possible) than I do. George Plimpton played or at least auditioned for tye Detroit Lions. There is tye kind of person the world could use more of.

No I'm nit much impressed with Nick Saban's Wrecking Crew. But there is an expression I think suits thus one particularly well.

Oh no. Definitely not scatterbrained. In fact I tried very hard to make sure it wasn't that. I gave a credential. I went to engineering school. I gave my G.P.A. Also, you speak fir everyone? You can't follow so neither can anyone else? That's ridiculous. Honestly you should be ashamed of yourself. Maybe you should spend more time reading then telling me my own business? I outlined it.
I'll do it again. SRS is Sports Reference interface. I use their figures (are those incomprehensible gobbledygook)? Not likely. Because they've been verified as fair.

Amongst the most reliable. Third party.
Anyway if you're suggesting the method I use is obsolete then it would stand to reason so ought to be Sports Reference.
I take figure they've compiled and retroactively redistribute it in a more reasonable form. I've done it repeatedly.
If it's wrong it ought to be clear to everyone why it's wrong yet tye only complaint I've heard is Tenn O'Cock's. And he's an idiot.

Prolly should have added all that I'm getting ready to post.

But first, yes I agree that a trade/vocational school would be good.
When I finally got sober in AA at 24 I had a bit of a slog getting my footing in the world. And having only a 10th grade education made it tuffer. Yeah, I'm a dropout. That has been interesting at a young age because some wonder how much I had experienced by then. You'd need to know my story but what I went thru has left me with knowing more than I care to at times. I'll say this much. I have seen and been a part of the dirty side of the street and it is neither pretty nor glamorous. Tho it has been useful to help others in AA.
First thing was getting a ged. Then I went to a trade school for electric motor repair/rewind and went into that for a coupla years. I considered college and esp since I heard from other AA members about it a lot. But I knew my attitude needed to change.
Finally I took the plunge and when I finally got over brain cramps I had a blast. Sure GI Bill helped but I also had a job while going to college. Seems I have a knack for math. And at 30 I saw what a lot of people consider that kids out of high school should go out into the world for a couple of years and then go to college so they have some perspective.
Between my trade as an electric motor winder(from specialty fractional hp motors to 7,000 hp 13,000 volt monstrosities) and doing engineering work in the industry I had a pretty good resume' fairly quick.
Thing is I know what it means to work for something and I get pretty torqued over the last few years hearing all this whining and squealing from all these "oppressed" and "victim" cry babies. Nothing of real value comes easy. Get out and work for it at whatever cost. There are plenty of stories out there of people who decided they wanted better, sought it out and worked for it.
I wanted better for myself and went for it.
Is that to say college is necessary? No. lotta people have done quite well for themselves w/o the benefit of the sheepskin as the saying goes.

Anyway, That is my TLDR essay for a glimpse into me.
