I appreciate the advice but at this point I’m more interested in getting predictable results without ruining the meat or not having the food ready until hours after I thought it would be.
I like the idea of the “lifestyle grilling” where I can spend a leisurely day outside tending to my smoker, but at this point that’s just not feasible. I have joined some groups and forums where most posters who have both types of grill say they use the pellet grill more often. I’m not ready or able to be a purist just yet.
I can understand that. My point was to say. If you are looking at mid range and higher pellet. I would recommend entry level to mid range kamado cookers.
Better product. Lasts longer, and you can set it and forget it.
Seriously I load up my kamado joe. And I have cooked 18 hours on a single load of lump at 225.
My problem with most pellet grills is that hey have to many wearable parts and unless they are on the high end are built pretty cheap. But still want a premium on pricing.
And the worst part they just dont do anything great. They dont get as hot as a real grill for searing. They dont get as good of wood flavor as an offset. They just do everything "meh"
