It's that time of the year where I can't sex my wife or wank and have to quit tobacco for 6 weeks.

Pray for me Bois cause this shit is rough.

Also broke both my ankles playing ball last year.

For the newbies who don't know this stuff (mainly purple board posts) stickball or anetsa (little brother of war) is a proto lacrosse game where you scoop the ball into your hand and do anything to score 12 points, literally anything.

Last season a guys melon smashed on the field and he started bleeding out, we don't stop, we keep playing so while EMS was scooping him up, we kept playing. Fighting brutally on the field is common, guys will hit each other over the head with hickory club like sticks, throw punches, gouge eyes etc.

There are no rules. Anyway, the medicine we do makes us super angry plus the no wank no sex for almost two months.

This might be my last or next to last season playing and the no sex no wank gets harder haha.

Pray for me here cause my balls like breaking on me ala 2 years ago haha

Damnit, that shirt hurt and I couldn't walk. I was holed up all winter with a walking cast and having to soak my ankles in epsom every night...but yeah, not really unexpected hahaha

Got to for the community. They expect us to play and we in turn give back to the community for their support and smoke throughout the games.
I understand. Up here, we are getting ready for SunDance. As the men fast, sweat and get ready for piercing, us women will be fasting, sweating and then preparing the feast for the end of the SunDance. Much healing and strengthening of the people during this time.

Hopefully we are able to next year. Need to get back down there for the calming peace I feel when I am there.

Please do, the powwow next year is the 4th of July weekend if you wanna compete OR come up for the Tribal Fair in October where it's less touristy and more ndns.

I've been across ndn country with work, dancing or ball when I was younger playing NAYO. One of the experiences I've never seen or been a part of was a SunDance.

In all honesty though, I don't know many who have taken part in Cherokee ceremony either. Both seem to be very limited in scope.

I hope soon to have you up to our ceremonial grounds for green corn, of course you are always welcome here to any ceremony if you ever feel like making the long 15 hour trip.

I miss green corn. Been way too many years since I have. Dad built a small square for us to do Stomp Dances and some of our Lakota extended family here have learned the Stomps. We try to do them once a month when possible.

I consider it a blessing to have both Lakota and Cherokee spirituality and be a part of both. They complement each other and strengthen my beliefs and have really helped these last couple of years having faced so much grief.

I enjoy the western dance at powwows here, but not the same as when I put the turtle shells on and hear a song called
