Eh, LA, Philadelphia, Detroit, NYC, Hotlanta have all seen worse in their tenure. This will lads and be just another mark 50 years from now when another injustice happens and riots break out.

Well, it's happening in more than just those areas. Paid agitators are literally being bussed in, bricks provided for rioting, a complicit media and a anxious and angry populace stuck indoors for months readily used like sheep. Perfect whirlwind of TDS/Trump hatred, BLM, Antifa, anarchist/communists, racial tension, class warfare, opportunists, paid for bad actors, anti-cop movements, scared/angry cops, no distractions due to pandemic ad everyone masked "for safety", creating perfect conditions for chaos.

I agree with you, but this one is going to drag out all summer in my opinion. A lot of people have cabin fever, college campuses have been closed for months so now all those kids are at home bored waiting for classes to start again in late summer. Even if they wanted a part time job those are scarce or on hold due to CV precautions. This one isn't going away for a while.

Those riots in those cities histories were often tied together as well. Paid “agitators” have been a thing since the Jewish kids bussed down south In the 60’s and union busters in the turn of the century. The media has always thrives on it because it sells and it’s a line against what is believed, right or wrong, tyrannical oppressions This is a country born in violent revolution and it’s roots have always been in civil unrest. And yes, conditions usually are optimal, there’s a reason riots rarely happen in the winter time.

Sure, but it’s not exactly an out of limb prediction based on the history of the nation. Its akin to saying a blue blood program during a down period will rise again at some point.

We’ll heal as a country and then have something like this happen again, and heal itself and get sick, etc, etc.

Funny, cuz when I was talking about riots and blood in the streets (over on rivals) a few years ago, you took a different approach. Could have been tigity, or F22 though.

And, I admire your optimism, but, just because our country has overcome in the past, doesn't mean it will in the future. Rome was once invincible, and the concept it could fracture was unimaginable. China as well. The French monarchy had nothing to worry about, after all, the divine right to rule came from God. People roll their eyes when people like myself point out America fits all the conditions required for empire collapse - an unfounded sense of entitlement/superiority/invulnerability, resources and military stretched too thin, no longer homogenous and comprised of too many tribal outside groups, monetary inflation, moral decadence- including falling on the 10 generation timeline of the rose and fall of empire, We have entire sections of the country where hatred of America has been taught and those numbers have been swelling under the radar, and you combine it with a rabid, almost cult like mass hysteria hatred of Trump, and a mostly fabricated virus shutting down the entire American way of life, and things could easily lead to the fracturing of the country. Maybe not tomorrow, or even come November, but, history may recall 2020 as the year America died.

Maybe them, but my believe was and is that riots happen, blood in the streets happen. They happen when there’s political discourse, economic collapse, sports team championships, etc.

It’s not “optomism” it’s a cursed sense of history. The only time America has been close to death and I mean legitimate death to its existence as we know it, was the Civil War.

That was it, nothing has come close or threatened it outside maybe World War II and Civil Rights Riots of the 60’s.


You talk about Rome yet the American “Empire” has never once touched its reach across an entire swath of history or region.

I roll my eyes because it’s a somewhat arrogant believe that this era in a country that again has managed to survive civil wars, legitimate pandemics that wiped out entire cities, world wars, cold wars, unpopular wars, civil rights issues, multiple Presidential Assassinations, 9/11, is somehow now, during our lifetime is going to “die” now.

Of course there are isolated riots....but, more or less orchestrated ones nationwide, on this scale, are rather rare, nearly unprecedented.

The conditions currently are eerily similar to the civil war, actually. There are essentially "two Americas" right now, each vying for control, and neither side willing to compromise with the other. And, you don't see parallels to the civil rights/Vietnam riots of the 60's?

So? It was merely used as an example, that seemingly unstoppable empires can suddenly collapse.

And, I'm sure Romans, days before the Vandals sacked them, thought similarly. As for dying, perhaps I'm not making what I mean clear...I don't think America would cease to exist, but, cease to exist as we've known it. I can see it fracturing, us plunging into great depression we never fully recover from, our rights being rolled back, our government being systemically and permanently changed, etc. Life will go on, but not as we'd known it, nor as it was envisioned/intended.

America has evolved and changed throughout its history. So the idea of “cease to exist as we know it” doesn’t really register for me as groundbreaking. As there will be some good and some bad.

We’ve always had “two sides” battling for control. There’s always been “two America’s” at any one time. But I’m not seeing is literally coming to separate militaries fighting each other in the streets to a massive scale like in the 1860’s.

We’ve been through depressions before, our government is only in trouble if a standing President pulls a FDR and manages to become a King/Dictator and the a military coup of some kind exists.

And while I’m sure many Romans, and Russians, and 10,0000 years of the Third Reich were in the belief of invincibility, there’s been countless people who have believed, just like you, that America is doomed through it’s history.

Of course there have been, but, only a few times has it been this polarized, and in one example, as you said, the country came to actual war with itself. Do I see Civil war 2.0? Yes. Or Revolution 2.0. Will it be militaries fighting one another? No. But, we're already seeing civilians vs police, and many are pushing for a race or class war.

Just because we have endured and survived depressions before doesn't mean we'll always be able to. Especially given America survived previous ones due to our abundance of resources and frankly, lucky circumstances.

Well, true...but eventually, someone predicting doom is right.
 
I’m sorry, but every single thing you’ve outlined has happened before. You also have to provide some sort of high point of the American Empire for me to believe a fall is coming. Every high point in this country has had major flaws while every low point has experienced some bounce back.

I can’t see a roll back of the Bill of Rights and the basics without a major military coup which I also don’t see happening.

A true Civil War is going to involve millions of people willing to take arms against one another and again, without major military influence and we as as a society that is generally fairly lazy all kicking in, that’s not going to happen.

While it doesn’t mean we’ll always be able too, it does suggest that we will more than we won’t. Again, it’s akin to saying a blue blood program like Bama or OU or SC won’t rise after a fall. Sure, it could happen, but the safer money is betting on it does.


And yes, someone is bound to be right. The odds of you or others during this time being the chosen ones? Sorry man, I’m not putting money down on it.
