Say an economic collapse happens, resources are getting low, people fleeing the cities looking for food.
You live Rural, couple of acres, somewhat self sufficient. You have a month or 3 of emergency supplies.
People start showing up asking for food, will you help them?
At what point, will you have to say no?

You shoot the first 2 that show up and use them for scarecrows for the rest of the bodies you drop......

In that situation, I would not be such a giving person. My family comes first... ya know?
If that makes me an ass, welllll...

Nope. The only people allowed here on the farm are family and a few close friends. Resources would be far too limited to act like a humanitarian. Like LSU02 said, impale the first several that try it like Vlad did.

Hell I have some family that I wont allow now, let alone if shtf, they try to come here then they be target practice. But that's the big problem with the scenario for alot of people. You can only hold out yourself for so long because you are going to be inundated with people, especially if you are within a reasonable distance of a major metropolitan area. I'm 4 hours from Chicago and 4 hours from St. louis. Thats to close.

It's a matter of balancing resources, and people are resources as well. Food, water, shelter and protection. But let's be honest - 99.9% of us wouldn't outlive a shtf situation. Between disease, injury, having to do things that you are not wiling to do such as kill or leave others to die, and running into folks that are just stronger and have more firepower - there's a lot that would take ya down.

No.

It goes down to give a fish or teach to fish.

You give them food, they'll just be back wanting more. Not responsible for everyone else.

Oh definitely. The carnage for the first 6 months would be massive. You guys out in the middle of the west would have the best chance to survive the longest.
