A Blount County man is allowed to keep his license plate after it stirred up controversy a few weeks ago.
According to the Associated Press, Nathan Kirk said the Alabama Department of Revenue sent him a letter allowing him to keep his personalized 'Don't Tread on Me' license plate after initially refusing to renew it in February. The state allegedly even apologized to Kirk in the letter.
Kirk's controversial tag has the acronyms "LGB" for 'Let's Go Brandon' and "FJB," an explicit statement geared toward President Joe Biden, which was the main problem.
The state's reversal came after Kirk's tag became a hot topic on social media and received national attention from right-wing media outlets.
The license plate is said to have cost more than $700.
