I have been working on contract for this past year for a big client. Today was supposed to be my last day and my phone was blowing up this morning so I crawl outa bed and answer it... My recruiter was on the other end and he just says "I dont know how you did it, but they just requested you extend till the end of the year, and at that time they want to make you an offer with a full time position."

Woohoo! Made my day!

I have no idea what line of work you are in, but congrats.

Congrats! I thought my project was coming to an end which would be a shame because this is a great gig for a variety of reasons. Today my boss told me nope! The bank wants me to do another task for them and fully expects me to stay on for the full length of the contract which is into next year.

I work in IT. Usually my work is around software packaging, for distribution in an enterprise environment, via an app called SCCM ( it is a Microsoft product for end to end desktop/server management in a corp structure ). But for this project I have been over seeing the rollout of Windows 10 to this customers desktop environment.

So far I have upgraded over 12k clients in just over a year, by myself, using automated task sequences to check the machine, see if it qualifies to be migrated, then stages it with the win 10 payload so that once the maintenance window opens up during the evening shift it kicks off the upgrade, and emails me on any issues it has, so I can trouble shoot and determine, if it is something I need to look at deeper or just needs to be manually completed by the desktop team. Since I have come on, and worked with their engineers we have the process down pat. They also occasionally farm work out to me when they need an app rollout remediated but that is more of a one off kind of situation.

Pretty damn impressive, but then again, I just mastered turning on my computer.
