oSu offered our DC Jim Knowles a 1.8 a year 10 year contract. He left us for Ohio State just a few minutes ago.

Just like that, Oklahoma State is absolutely irrelevant again and the 8 defensive players who said they were coming back next season are probably going to the draft.

I hate the money all these blue bloods have.
 
It’s that time of year. PITT just lost their OC also. I would imagine there is going to be a ton of this, this year. I mean Kelly hasn’t put together any of his senior staff yet. And then the rest of these coaches have to do so. And then all those schools have to back fill.

Helton got hired at Georgia Southern a few weeks ago. So far, he is raping Sun Belt teams with his assistant coaching hires.

Talk about a nomadic lifestyle. Man, such is the life of a college assistant coach. I just brought up Joker Phillips being the WRs coach at NC State this year in another thread. Since he got canned as UK's head coach 10 years ago, he's had like 6 or 7 jobs. Bounced all around.....

I was actually a fan of Joker Phillips at UK. He seemed like a guy that was doing things the right way. He fits what we are talking about in that other thread, IMO.

Joker the person, I'm on board with him and will always be grateful for what he did for us as a player and assistant coach. But, dude, when he was the HC, we were losing out on recruiting battles with MAC programs and his teams got softer and softer each year. Then, when he went to UF, he got caught up in some recruiting violations. I feel pretty confident in saying that he hit his ceiling as an assistant/position coach and all his stops since leaving UK would back that up. Although, he is the Assistant Head Coach/WRs coach at NC State. That's probably just a justification for his salary more than anything though.

Gundy became best friends with Gary Patterson coaching wise to the point the guys joked about just lining the teams up together so they could coach against each other right next to each other.

Well, Patterson is definitely on Oklahoma States DC short list and the rumors are starting to heat up.

Personally I don't hate it. There's also some movement on Agent Muschamp at DC. I know he used to be good there, did he get his mojo back at UGA this season, @OldDevilDawg ?!!
 
Also, do y'all know what the football payroll and operations is? 34 freaking million. Why are we spending money like we are a G5 on football AND STILL do well?!!!

Gundy has been fighting the new, less penny pinching admin to raise the operating and coaches payroll.
 
That is one of the things that has driven me nuts for years about Kelly. ND has literally spent a billion dollars on the football program in the last decade. Between updates, upgrades, payroll, new facitilites, etc and Kelly still bitched that he couldn't get what he needed at ND to win.

Kelly brought ND up and should have had them winning a title with the talent he brought in. He's the biggest mystery in the world coaching wise.

Ex UW HC Jimmy Lake is unemployed although I doubt he's looking for work after the buyout he just got from UW. With that said he coached some of the best defenses in the country as Washington's DC.

Muschamp has always had a great reputation as a top shelf DC. He's not quality HC material, but don't hold that against him. IMO, he's sitting at home with UGA waiting for Dan Lanning to get a head coaching job. That's inevitable. The main reason I think he will stay at UGA for the foreseeable future.....his son is a freshman walk-on QB for the Dawgs. He doesn't need the money. Being on the practice field at his alma mater with his son.....priceless.

I didn't realize his son was on the team. Well his son can enter the portal and come to Stillwater.

I forgot about that. He may be a get, especially with our development staff.
 
Biggest name coming through right now is Derek Mason for DC. Okay SEC guys, tell me about him
