What do yall know about Brunswick Stew

I know absolutely nothing but would probably still eat it.
Never had the chance to try it, but it sounds good.
There is a long standing debate about who first invented Brunswick Stew, Brunswick Georgia and Brunswick county Virginia both lay claim,, not to go all wikipedia on yall, but this stew is old,, probably made with rabbit and squirrel.. mine is chicken and pork.. It has a fair amount of vinegar in it which cuts the gamey taste of wild game.. also tomatoes and cream style corn..

Today, You'll see it served in bbq resturants mostly as another way to sell some day old bbq.. but everybodys stew is different.. I dont care for Lima beans, some recipes call for them.. I do put some diced potatoes in mine.. cause I like it..

Me and a guy I work with did a grey hash the saturday after Thanksgiving. We got 50 quarts out of it. 30#s of chuck roast and 15#s of pork butt. Throw you in about 10#s of cut up taters and 5#s of onion. Add a large bottle Texas Pete, a regular size bottle of Worcestershire sauce and a bottle of cider vinegar. Lots of s&p and you'll need a boat paddle to stir it. Stew it till everything falls apart.

I literally just polished off a pot with my dad using leftover pulled/smoked pork and the remnants of a rotisserie chicken.
One of my favorites since I was a kid,, my Grandfather used to make some for every gathering.. I would eat so much of it MawMaw MADE me eat loaf bread with it to soak up the fat so I wouldnt get sick..

That was my grandmother's name from my mother's side.

Some of my best memories are of gardening and cooking with her.

Yep, after we made our batch we turn the gas off and let it sit for 30 minutes then spoon all the fat off. We boil the pork separate and spoon off the nasty white foam. We get $10 a quart for it and can't keep it.

Damn, how big was the pot?

That's what my pops always used. I can only wish I knew his recipe. It was in his head and never written down, though.
The first time I tried to make some I was in my twenties,, I called my mom to come taste it and asked her if it was anywhere near Paw Paws..
she told me no, but dont worry about it,, everybodys stew is different and mine was awesome :)
