I disagree. Repubs may be corporate schills, and don't accomplish anything (which isn't all that bad tbh). But Dems are transing kids, grooming kids, endorsing riots, wants to kill babies (that's different than pro-choice - they are beyond that). They want to abolish pregnancy centers. Green new deal bullshit. CRT to pit us against each other. All of this is to degrade our society. What are Repubs pushing that's close to that?

I’m not saying both sides aren’t a problem. But one is at a ten. The other? A thousand.

I won't deny that the Dems are way more leftist than they were when Reagan actually convinced them to help him end the cold war, but those that control the seats for the Republican Party are mostly extremist in their own right. Politically, I am not a Democrat nor a Republican. I am an American that is disgusted with the fact that our country is being controlled by a war between the extremists on either side of the aisle. You ask what Republicans are pushing........they are pushing an extreme desire to not find common ground. Same as the communists. If you choose butting heads over finding common ground, you are well on your way to a divorce and having kids that suffer because both of you are too fucking selfish to make your children the priority that they should be. To clarify, I see us useless citizens as the kids that are suffering from the stupid happening in DC.

Okay, I’ll bite. How can we (I’ve formally aligned as “right”) make peace with the left when the left hates- seethingly hates- and wishes and wills violence and death on my side? Even if willing if they Steve it’d just stupid to try.

I don’t want to hurt or kill anyone. I’m a peacemaker at heart, believe it or not. But how much tolerance can be expected? How many times must one turn the other cheek? The left is evil. I wish it weren’t, I just want to live in harmony but they are a spreading goddamned cancer.

A desire to not find common ground? Some perhaps. But look at the leftward drift of society in general. Repubs (rinos) just sided with the Dems to degrade our 2A rights last week. Is that the kind of common ground you are looking for?

Conservatives in general have moved left on numerous ideas from marijuana use to gay marriage to blowing the doors off the spending. The Overton window has fallen off the left side of the house. Aside from Manchin not wanting to abandon the filibuster - where have Dems been willing to work with conservatives? Compromises take a little give from both sides.

Let me ask you - what specific policies do you think conservatives should reach across the aisle more on?

The part that you misunderstood here is that I don't want conservatives to reach across the aisle. I want everyone to take a step back and understand that being an extremist argumentative is not in the best interest of our country. We have the potential to continue being the greatest nation on the planet, but full blown devisiveness from the extremist factions on both sides insures the death of the country we love.
 
I’m sorry @OldDevilDawg but - in my eyes- to say the left and right, however it’s framed, are equal, is a lie. I do not see that. I do not feel it. I do not believe it. I’m an intelligent man an educated man a logical man and a fucking fool, proud, oft drunk, but my stance I’m more and more entrenched on. I won’t defend the right. But the left is evil. Fucking evil. And I cannot not will not compromise with that or pretend it’s anything else under the guise of idealism.

All countries/nations die and I’m basically accepting - begrudgingly, reluctantly, but somberly- the great American experiment is finished.
 
I'm with ODD on this. The extremes have taken over both parties. Litmus tests because you have to be in lock step with their views. We're letting 20% of the population dictate how the rest of the 80% of us are represented...

2020 Election deniers. I don't like the result. But to deny it is extremist. As extremist as the 2016 deniers. But the fringe was not around in 2016 to the extent they are now. Sadly, it's OK to burn down cities, because it's righteous. Hang out in the capitol to make a point and you're going to prison...

I respect you (as I hope you know) immensely. I’m an avid, a fucking proud 2020 denier. I do not feel that makes me an extremist. I’d willingly and successfully take to that hill with anyone - online? Big tech shuts you down. In real life? People get frustrated and either flee or concede.

The scales are off. And it’s - …we all know.

When I find a hill I'm willing to die on, I will, either virtually, or in real life. Put my ass on the line for 26 years in real life, and died virtually on rivals during the purge. Still have the emails that I put out there for all to see. I don't flee or concede, but I choose my battles, as we all do. Mine differ from yours, as they should. We all are independent thinkers up in here. That's what gives us the flavor of this board...
