Taking all variables into consideration, including age
I'm sure you just ran out of room in the poll before you got to him, but......
Mark friggin Stoops
I’ll stand pat.
I can't argue with that. I should have added Harbaugh because he won his conference and made the playoff, but I didn't see anyone choosing him. What Stoops has done at UK is, at minimum, phenomenal. He needs a SECE championship to make the list. I also considered adding Sam Pittman. What he's done at Arky in 3 years, IMO, is more impressive than what Jimbo has done at A&M in 4.
If Saban retired tomorrow, Kirby is who I would pick. I think Saban has one more Natty in him, very possibly this year. Kirby has one, and time will tell if it is sustainable. I think it is, but winning even one is damn hard and requires not only skill, but a little luck as well.Fully understand. #metoo. I made the poll for all those other guys that ain't us.
Did you read what you just wrote and think on it? A KENTUCKY coach has to win the East at a minimum to be desirable to other programs....a KENTUCKY coach!! The bar has been raised in Lexington and I love it.
Desirable to teams that want rings, yes. The question is, could Stoops do better somewhere else than he's done in Lexington?
Is it just a funky year for them, or has Dabo just fallen off a cliff recently?
I think he’s a GOOD coach who had GREAT assistants and was able to sustain that continuity by keeping his staff intact. I also think people figured him out and he didn’t make the required changes which made him predictable. It didn’t hurt playing in a weak as hell ACC to work out some kinks before he played a game that mattered. Oh, don’t forget having a generational talent at qb.Is it just a funky year for them, or has Dabo just fallen off a cliff recently?
I really don't think so (and I don't think he thinks so either). It's a perfect storm kind of situation for him, and us, and I sure don't want to see him go try to do it better somewhere else.
IMO, Dabo is gonna struggle. Venables was his crutch.

I think he continues to improve at UK. Hell, I already think the SECE will be between UGA and UK again this year.
Really, it SHOULD be again this year and I'm liking what I'm hearing from spring practices. Aren't we all though??
Well the game is in Lexington this year. IMO, UK pulling @Ole Miss and home versus MissSt is a bit tougher than UGA pulling @MissSt and Auburn at home. Both should be favored in all the SECE games. It's possible that UK will be an underdog in Oxford. Other that that, I see both UK and UGA running the table in the East. A UK win in Oxford would be another top 10 matchup and potential GameDay game in Lexington. Stoops needs to make the best of that opportunity. Gonna be a damn fun season.
