We are in the same boat here, unrealMorning all. Its supposed to be 70 today which is a record high temp and by tonight the wind speeds are supposed to hit 70 mph as well.
Are you supposed to get storms? We aren't supposed to get anything severe here, but it feels like it could blow something up. It's humid and just has that "sense" to the air of it could be bad. Usually a big front coming in like this is the spark for bad stuff to happen. We are in the same boat here, unreal
Same here. It definitely feels like it could clabber up at any minute, but no storms in the forecast. Lots of moisture in the air though, ground is damp even though I cant remember the last time we had real rain. Are you supposed to get storms? Best of luck with your TKR. If you care for any advice, I have had two of them and a host of knee surgeries.I am currently sitting in the doctor's office for a physical, then have to go to Iowa city for pre admission stuff for my knee replacement in January. Talk about a boring day.
Bit of unsolicited advice, having had that surgery. THERAPY IS A BITCH, BUT ESSENTIAL!!!I am currently sitting in the doctor's office for a physical, then have to go to Iowa city for pre admission stuff for my knee replacement in January. Talk about a boring day.
The two pieces of advice I always give is that if you are not going to aggressively adhere to the recommended therapy then do not have the surgery. Also I have found that you can prep for the surgery and make post op easier by strengthening your quads pre surgery. Even doing quad sets ... just tightening the quads for 10 seconds, releasing for ten ... gives you a better starting point for therapy and can be done anywhere.Bit of unsolicited advice, having had that surgery. Rehab after knee replacement is not fun, and the pain was incredible, but if you don’t rehab properly you won’t get the range of motion back.
I’m glad I had it done, but it took me a full year to fully recover. I also never got full strength in the joint. I walk fine, and I’m pain free, but I can’t “squat down “ and then get back up like I used to. I’ve learned to adapt and do things differently, it hasn’t slowed me down.
Good luck!
Also @RTR...USN (ret) thanks to both of you for the advice. I planned this for January so that I'm hopefully healed enough by March 1st to move well because that's when my cows start having calves. The two pieces of advice I always give is that if you are not going to aggressively adhere to the recommended therapy then do not have the surgery. I went back to work at 8 weeks, but was pretty limited, and still in some discomfort. Biggest issue was swelling. As long as I was able to keep the swelling down, the discomfort was manageable. Also @RTR...USN (ret) thanks to both of you for the advice. I'm hoping by 3 weeks I'm back in a tractor to feed cows. Wont probably be carrying buckets but at least running the feed wagon.I went back to work at 8 weeks, but was pretty limited, and still in some discomfort. Biggest issue was swelling. Stay safe my friend!Just got to Iowa city and was listening to the radio on the way up, weather guy now says sustained winds to 70 mph and gusts to 80mph. Also severe weather likely with tornadoes possible.
