The new and improved Good Morning thread!

My sleep/work schedule is way messed up. Afternoon all!
That sucks and was one of the main reasons I didn't transfer to a maintenance shop that worked rotating 12s. That schedule had you off for seven days in a row every month without missing an hour in the pay period and you worked 15 days month. But damn, every two or three days you went from nights to days. Good luck getting in the groove!

Yeah, Im in a transition phase right now. My hours are going to be in the afternoon working at the psych hospital, but at least I can clock in and out, leave and not worry about so much on-call BS. It feels like Im on-call 24-7 sometimes. I had two calls (after work) at 2AM and 5AM this morning. I need a change.

I worked that rotating shift for around 13 years. You’re tired all the damn time.

For the maintenance crew, "shift work" was considered to be the promised land. We were capped at a max of 1000 hours of OT and shift could get it and still have more days off than the regular shops. They were also the emergency maintenance crew for the entire plant so they had very light schedule of work on the night shift. Mostly they were on standby and as long as they did not nest out, the company would rather have them asleep in a known location than out hiding. Still, going from days to nights every 2-4 days was just too much for me.

Bill Gates couldn’t pay me enough to do this job for someone else. I am however always happy to help a friend if I’m able.
I am the same way ... we are going to be on the roof next week, I might help a friend or family member on theirs, but nobody on this planet has deep enough pockets to hire me.

I did the mandatory on-call rotation in several of my assignments. I hated being on call. You could never relax because you were always anticipating the phone ringing.
