Franklin trying to tell them, sounds like good motivation for Auburn and their fans.
James Franklin is familiar with coaching a road team in an SEC environment, but his Penn State players and even some coaches may not be.

As the Nittany Lions prepare to play at Auburn on Saturday, Franklin has made adjustments to preparations to make sure his team is as ready as it can be to perform on The Plains.

“I think it’s going to be similar to some of better environments in the country. There is no doubt about it. Obviously they take a ton of pride in their program and their university and their community,” Franklin said. “Obviously football is really important there, in that region of the country. So we know it’s going to be challenging and got a ton of respect for it, but we didn’t wait until this week to get started. We did it during training camp, but really did it last week.”

The guys are looking at me like I was crazy. The staff and the players. Like we went all silent count all last week in practice with, as everybody knows, the music as loud as possible.”

Frankly I think it sucks. Auburn has those years where they, for no apparent reason, simply play to the level of the competition. It usually ends up good for them and bad for somebody else.
Playing to the level of competition is something that bugs the hell out of me and we have a long tradition of that. On the bright side, we look better through two games this season than we did last year ... but damn it, the game should always be played to your standards and ability, not your opponents. I do think we have a decent shot against PSU this week given that we hung with them during a White Out last season and this year I am hoping that our passing game is more than the scramble drill.

Hey, the “scramble drill” is still better than the “chuck and duck” 😂

You guys played worse last year than you did last week?

Especially in the first two games, yes. Penalties killed us last week more than anything. I'm not saying we looked good at all, but we were able to run and pass a little when not shooting ourselves in the foot. Last season we could do neither.
