this is that hospital exit. that is I-26. a section of I-40 near Newport has washed away. TVA put out an alert around midnight that the Nolichucky Dam was in imminent danger of failing.

there are at least 3 main bridges along the Nolichucky in Unicoi, Washington, and Greene county that are gone. a bunch of smaller ones are destroyed. there are a few areas that can no longer be accessed by car.

similar in Western NC. lots of areas without power and cell service. lots of cell towers down. really afraid what is going to be found in some of our valleys and hollers when they are finally accessed.

I am good here and the damage was really light around me. The damage starts about 15 miles away in three directions and is really severe. I must say that when we look back, our hope for humanity will be at least partially restored. There is nothing like seeing a community come together to fill in for what the government can't provide and help neighbors survive and recover. There are some bad things happening but for every one of them I can show you dozens of good ones.

Shit got real in certain parts of TN/NC and more.
