Here is the bracket

I was a little shocked with the order and really did not think SMU would have gotten in over Alabama. Other than that, about what I was expecting.

I am angry we’re not in it, but that ultimately is on us. We should not have lost the games we did. While I feel Bama deserved it more than SMU, I can understand the logic. And without Saban, Bama no longer gets benefit of the doubt. Honestly had we made it in, it was just as likely we got bounced badly as us going on a tear and winning it all as the last team in.

I think the criteria will change after this year.
SMU should have gotten in ahead of Bama. Better record.
And they didn't get worked like a rented mule by Vandy and Okie.

While I think on any average Saturday Bama is better than SMU. Ajd would win 8 out of 10 games. With one of the remaining 2 going to OT

Results on the field have to matter. And when you lose almost 1/2 your conference games and schedule that many cupcakes out of conference. There is a price to pay.

And what really bit Bama is the double digital losses to 6-6 teams.

This just wasn't Bamas year. It happens.

I will say this. I wouldn't want to be Michigan, Illinois or Washington after the bowl bids today.

...we scheduled Wisconsin.

And what were the other OOC games?

One of Sabans greatest scheduling hacks was scheduling one good OOC. The rest as cup cakes and then being able to run the conference schedule. Or at least making the CCG.

That didn't happen this year.

And to be fair. Would you want this Bama team squaring off on Oregon or another playoff team? Why not just taking your Michigan game. Go beat up last years natty champ and get a bowl win to finish the year and work on recruiting.

I actually will not be surprised if there is a bit of a changeover in staff, especially some of the holdovers from Saban's staff.

EDIT: added bolded

Just saying, it's not like they were ALL cupcakes, and our schedule was actually pretty tough.
I am disappointed Bama isn't in it for history precedent, yes. Also, I think Bama could beat most of these teams. We DID beat #2 in the country already. Yes, we could also get bounced, but obviously I'd rather be in than out.

And Gunner Stockton it is. Looks like Carson Beck will be having Tommy John surgery.

Not being a dick. But do you guys not have a 3rd string QB that could have handed off the ball? You look at that place. His arm is handing like a spaghetti noodle.

And Texas. How the F did you think that was anything other than a run looking at his arm?

Rashada was a 5 star out of HS. Transfer from Arizona State. So yes, there was a 3rd string that could have done it. I've said for years that Kirby is a diabolical genius. Sending Beck in guaranteed that the O-line would have the best push they had all game, IMO. Bobo's play call was brilliant as well. The #32 that lined up at FB was not 180lb walk-on Cash Jones. It was 6'2" 245lb OLB Chaz Chambliss (also #32) leading the way. Texas players had faced Jones all game. All they saw was the #32. Kirby was playing chess while the Texas players were playing checkers.
