The guy was above politics for the last 40 years of his life. He left a blueprint for what an ex-President can be and can accomplish in the arena of being a steward for the good of society. May he rest in very well earned peace.

That’s how politics used to work. For the most part. Significant, even vehement, differences of opinion but to a great extent without the broad-brush demonization of opposition we currently see. Losing Jimmy Carter is losing one of the final few links to a different time.
