I dont think this is a new thing. There was no cell phones, the internet or social media. Those teachers were probably also FN the principle or other adults in some kind of power. The culture back then was also different, as males were not seen as victims, so it was blown off (no pun intended).

My FFA teacher was doing one of the hottest chicks in our class starting when she was a junior. A few of us in the know knew about it but didn't say anything. They got hitched a few weeks after she graduated and he quit his job and they moved to the other side of the mountains (eastern Washington), and had three kids. They were happily married until a few years ago when he passed away.

Our running joke my senior year was you got breakfast from one teacher based on your performance. One friend claimed steak and eggs, the ranch hand special, and another claimed eggs benedict, fit for a king. I always claimed an undercooked chicken biscuit, might kill me or might just cleanse my bowels.
