Just saw a headline that 1300 plays including 400 P4 starters have already declared for the portal.
And it isn't even open yet. This is insane.

But still, thats like 5 whole football teams in the P4, lol!!!I don't even think that number is high at all, with all things considered. There were what, 17 HC changes in the P4? That's a pool of 340 starters with broken relationships with the team in the P4. Then the portal is used by agents in NIL negotiations by "testing free agency", whether or not they are really leaving. I'm guessing also that more players are using it to try to find a landing spot after losing a starting position than chasing big bucks.
I just thought there would be more portal announcements. But still, thats like 5 whole football teams in the P4, lol!!!
Keep in mind it isn't open yet. And there could still be thousands that just haven't announced yetI just thought there would be more portal announcements.
Even so, that doesn't mean that thousands will transfer. Last season about one thousand did not transfer after entering the portal. I expect a lot of poaching from the G5 and non P2 programs.Keep in mind it isn't open yet. And there could still be thousands that just haven't announced yet

Portal appears to be where it's at and high school recruiting is out. That and player evaluation.
It will work for schools that can afford to pay players to develop, and can then afford to keep them once they’re coveted by everyone else.HS recruiting will still play a big part. If for no other reason. They are cheaper than most players out of the portal.
Not the best ones, they cost a fortune.HS recruiting will still play a big part. If for no other reason. They are cheaper than most players out of the portal.
