Circle of life, football becomes regional again.
I'm not so much honk as I am an old crusty bastard still in love with 3 yards and a cloud of dust era I grew up in. And if you believe the panel of mental health experts that testified, I'm a little fucked up too.Only the honkiest of SEC honks could believe that.
That’s the only reason why the SEC was so dominant for 15 years or so. The damn thing was fixed.I think we'd all prefer someone to sack up and put some damn rules and laws in place to get this damn thing fixed though.
Everybody had to play by the same rules back then. Now it's the wild west. That’s the only reason why the SEC was so dominant for 15 years or so. The damn thing was fixed.
You’re not wrong about it being the Wild West now, but the result is that it’s not just the same handful of teams contending for a championship every year. As much as I dislike NIL and the portal, it’s not all bad that has come out of it. I do completely agree that it needs to be reigned in at the very least. And my previous post was just a joke…sort of…SEC bias was real. Still is.Everybody had to play by the same rules back then. Now it's the wild west.
I dunno. It sure seems like everybody being able to pay the players had a sudden dramatic leveling effect. Its not the same 3-4 programs dominating every single year like it was for the previous decade or so.Everybody had to play by the same rules back then. Now it's the wild west.
Yet the same schools still dominate the top 10 in recruiting.I dunno. It sure seems like everybody being able to pay the players had a sudden dramatic leveling effect. Its not the same 3-4 programs dominating every single year like it was for the previous decade or so.
When I really got into following recruiting in the mid 80s. I was simply amazed at how some coaches could snow HS recruits into coming to their programs year after year after year even though they had stockpiled a bunch of all Americans at that kid's position for several years in a row and none of them were getting to play much until they were at least redshirt juniors as a result. Meanwhile even other major programs would be sitting there with absolutely nothing at that recruit's position and he could walk in and start right away. Yet.....that's exactly what would happen year after year after year. It was like the dumbasses couldn't be bothered to look at a freaking depth chart.
Once you got the ball really rolling with your program, it was easy to keep it rolling. The top recruits would automatically beat a path to your front door. That kept happening with Saban, Kirby, Dabo, Urban, etc. Transfers and NIL broke that. The delusion that they were going to just show up and be so much better than everybody else and start right away (what they all believe) because it had been that way all their lives to that point was shattered. Once they actually got to the program and saw stud athletes at every position stacked 2-3 deep, they FINALLY opened their eyes for the first time.
In the past, they were just stuck. The penalty for transferring was such that most of them just put their heads down and grinded until they were ready. Now they just say "fuck it" and take the big NIL payment from somebody else and bail.....and they get to start there right away.
#4 in the composite ranking, fleabag.Yet the same schools still dominate the top 10 in recruiting.
It ain't over till it's over, dumbass. Same as it ever was.#4 in the composite ranking, fleabag.![]()
The $EC will play in its own league for a chance to win a woke E$P1N ESPY while the rest of us via for a CFB national championship.
Okay. Defend that, sir. That’s the only reason why the SEC was so dominant for 15 years or so. The damn thing was fixed.
It used to be “fixed” because of SEC bias in the polls, but now the SEC is “fixed” like a neutered dog.Okay. Defend that, sir.
So, the success of the SEC and Bama specifically from 2006 - 2023 was purely due to "poll bias"?It used to be “fixed” because of SEC bias in the polls, but now the SEC is “fixed” like a neutered dog.
And Colt getting hurt of course. So, the success of the SEC and Bama specifically from 2006 - 2023 was purely due to "poll bias"?
