Space Force Announcement(and other funny stuff):

Damn, you are one of us unkhakied working folks!!!! I always had respect for you but this takes it to another level.
I pissed off the wrong Master Chief, who had lots of friends on the board. I made the board 8 years in a row, had all the right jobs and eval’s but still couldn’t get selected. It is what it is. I wouldn’t change a thing though!
Thanks for the kind words!

It's a shame that politics rule promotion boards. My son is going to learn that the hard way next year when he goes up for E7. He, at the change of command ceremony, told his new CO that he thought it a shame that he took over before getting a regulation haircut.

It took me 5 years to get selected for E-6 after getting passed over quite a few times. I pissed off a Master Sergeant that spent most of his career at HQMC. When I finally got selected, I got out before the promotion.

The Master Chief I pissed off was the Command Master Chief (CMC). He once sat on the board, and I think the sob knew everyone. All it took was a call from him and I was done, regardless of what my record said. Like I said, I wouldn’t change what happened, or the circumstances that pissed him off. Sometimes you have to stand on your morals and screw the consequences.

Chip off the old block huh?

Dad said that he was dug straight out of my ass and it served me right to have to deal with him. I will give it to my son on this: he is not subtle but he knows regulations like the back of his hand. He is not afraid to say what is on his mind especially when he knows he is right. When he was in the 82nd, he got into it with his battalion commander for wearing a Marine combat patch he was awarded in his first tour in Iraq. He carried a copy of the appropriate regulation and his qualification for the patch with him and basically told the LtC that he would wear it until SecDef said otherwise.
