The Bog of Eternal Stench

I’m sorry, but every single thing you’ve outlined has happened before. You also have to provide some sort of high point of the American Empire for me to believe a fall is coming. Every high point in this country has had major flaws while every low point has experienced some bounce back.
I believe post WW2 1950's would/will (if I am right) likely be what is considered it.

I can’t see a roll back of the Bill of Rights and the basics without a major military coup which I also don’t see happening.
Wholesale? Agreed. But by inches? Already happening.

A true Civil War is going to involve millions of people willing to take arms against one another and again, without major military influence and we as as a society that is generally fairly lazy all kicking in, that’s not going to happen.
Not at all. Small violent skirmishes can happen. Think more "war zone" and less "classic battlefield". We're on the verge of it right now, people just savagely attacking one another out of anger, rage, opportunity, whatever. If police or military doesn't intervene, it'll become lawlessness, and jungle rules apply.
While it doesn’t mean we’ll always be able too, it does suggest that we will more than we won’t. Again, it’s akin to saying a blue blood program like Bama or OU or SC won’t rise after a fall. Sure, it could happen, but the safer money is betting on it does.

Did Minnesota remain a blue blood? Army? Hell, will Nebraska or Michigan if they don't bounce back within the next decade?
And yes, someone is bound to be right. The odds of you or others during this time being the chosen ones? Sorry man, I’m not putting money down on it.
Well, again, I hope you are right. It'd be a case where I didn't mind you gloating you finally won a disagreement with me. ;)Beer

The 1950’s had McCarthy Hearings, Korean War, rise of the Military Industrial Complex, and Emmitt Till, Jim Crow and the rise of Civil Rights the led to the volatile 60’s. And if we’re going by your belief of that Decade being the height. Then America has already “died” and never come back. Even though history shows it was still a pretty up and down and shitty time for a lot of people.

Again, a battlefield and war zones I can’t see anymore than we already have now between gang territories and urban issues that already exist. Violence is apart of this country and that’s not going to change anytime soon.

Army/Minnesota would be more France and the Roman Empire in your examples while America, would be akin to SC and Bama as again, we’ve had ups and downs and have still remained atop the landscape.

And again, I just can’t see a post apocalyptic, purge, escape from New York style life anytime soon. At least not in this lifetime or down the road.

*And Oh, I’d say my record Of wins is pretty solid against many over the years, you included.

*my emoji’s don’t work on phone but I am being a certain amount of tic in that statement.

Sorry, Toad, but NK is mostly right on this. This country is far more resilient than you give it credit for. Once it got past the War of 1812, this country has been relatively secure, and could ward off any outside threat. Even if the south had won, the two Americas would have thrived. The heart of America is made of good people, generally known as the "silent majority". The show up when needed, but silent otherwise (think WWII war effort to win the day). The greatest threat to this country was something they couldn't directly affect. Nuclear annilation. The Cuban Missle Crisis and the cold war was a threat from outside our borders.

Regardless of race, the core people in this country know right from wrong (and I haven't heard anybody imply Mr. Floyd was not wronged). Only the fringe elements of society seek anarchy for the sake of looting and dissension. The peaceful assembly that was attemped that first day quickly got undermined by the anarchist. During ensuing rioting did you notice any pastors in three piece suits hurling molotov cocktails? Or anyone middle-aged at all (besided those recording the events). Primarily young and unwise people who care more about stealing a pair of shoes, than the ramifications of being saddled with an arrest record for the rest of their life. The young have always been foolish, and always will be. So expect more riots in the future.

There is a decided political polarization in today's society, but I don't see it manifesting into war. Every one knows the red states have almost all the guns, it would be a rout. The 1960's were far worse of a threat from within. Today's society is far more homogenized than then. All races have decidely wealthy elements in their respective races. There is no longer wealthy whites and everyone else. There's even been a black president. There is hope, realistic hope, today, versus the fight for any hope 50+ years ago. The response this week the next morning after the previous night's carnage, has been all races showing up together to pitch in and clean up.

The police are in place to maintain law and order, and always have been. Because a crime by a cop was the catalyst, they have been warned to minimize aggression which only encourages more rampant anarchy. The National Guard should stabilize things, they are not beholden to the mayor or city council, and should restore order.

As to the Romans, remember that it took several hundred years for Roman Empire to collapse. Approximately twice as long as we have been a country. We are going to be around for awhile, yet.

I do hope y'all are right.

And, I would like to reiterate, I don't see America entirely collapsing, so much as fracturing, where there's different laws/norms dependent on region. Some states will enjoy far fewer rights than others, but, their population may prefer it that way...but, "land of the free" won't be unified in that, anymore. But, again, I hope I am wrong, and doing my best Franky impersonation.

This is some funny stuff!
