I do most of my own repairs.

Last week, I lost the tensioner pulley on my powerstroke. Pulled into the hospital parking lot when my power steering went out, saw what the problem was immediately when I saw my serpentine belt dragging on the ground.

Went and got a new tensioner pulley and new belt the next morning, then went back to the hospital for what should have been a 5-10 minute fix. New pulley didn’t come with a new bolt, but the old one seemed fine. Tightening it up, snap......FUCK!!! Broke off flush.

Ended up getting it towed home, $160. I was dreading trying to get the broken bolt out of there with an easy out. In the past, easy outs have been anything but. I’ve broken an easy out off before and had to burn it out with a torch, then drill the whole rest of the bolt out and use a helicoil, so I have an easy out phobia. That shit would never work in this situation if I broke the easy out. Tough enough to even get an angle drill in there without removing the radiator. Anyway, everything went smoothly, bolt drilled out easy enough, only had to remove the coolant overflow tank. Easy out bit, bolt came out fine, then I was back where I started...5-10 minute fix.

I was expecting a huge pain in the ass, lots of cussing and throwing shit.

Of course three different friends saw my truck on the back of the flatbed following me home in my other truck. Then I got to listen to all the Ford jokes.

Have had my own times turning the air blue using easy outs. So, know you ain't alone in that.

On my boats I do all of the work that I am capable of. Anything that is beyond my understanding, I pay someone.

On my truck, I don’t even change the oil myself anymore.

Of course I do. Unless it gets to the computer shit, I also do almost all the work on my machinery as well.
right on -
i do everything that i can -

yesterday was a simple job on my daughters nissan -
camshaft position sensor -
course, there had to be a hiccup -
got the wrong part and had to go back to town
in the middle of the work to get the correct part -

also noticed the o-ring on the old sensor was shot,
so i may have fixed the small oil leak at the same time -
two birds...
