Good morning Friends! Thunderstorms all night and looks like they are revving up again this morning.
My coffee cup holds 1/3 of pot of coffee and has never been washed in its decade of use. TBH, the closest I have come to leaving my wife was partly due to her washing my last coffee cup after me repeatedly telling her not to do it. I still get pissed thinking about that ...
I had a colleague who had a coffee cup like that. The cup was white on the outside but inside it had this layer of black gunk. Everyone in the office used to cringe when he would fill it up and drink. He always used to rant about he never washed the cup in years and that is why his coffee was so good etc etc... one day they laid him off, and this girl, that was one of the network engineers, noticed his cup was still sitting in the break room. She figures he will ask for the cup back, so she soaks it in the sink with scalding hot water till that gunk comes off. Sure enough, he calls once he unpacks his box and realizes it is not in there, and demands his cup. The boss asks us where it is, and the chick hands it to him with a smile and the boss takes one look and just says "Fuck me, he is going to lose his mind." and takes the cup, wraps it in paper towels finds a box and puts it in there then ships it to the guy.
Sure enough, he gets another call and the boss has to hang up on him, screaming thru the phone, wanting to know who the fuck washed his cup. I ran into the guy about two years later, and the first thing he does is bring up that cup. lol
For me it really is a sentimental, or as my wife said semi mental, issue with some tradition mixed. It is a navy thing and Dad was in the navy during Korea. He always had a seasoned cup. I acquired the tradition in my enlistment and after I was discharged me and Dad would sit for half a day at a time drinking coffee from seasoned cups and telling sea stories. I know I am an ass but I let my wife know that the very next day she decides to wash my cup I would change my direct deposits to a new bank and drive into the sunset. It does not matter IF I would do it but she is convinced that I will and that is the important thing.
Ohhhhh, that explains it, then. This guy was ex Navy as well. Man he was pissed about that cup. I told him to let it go, and tried to smooth it over, but he was still pissed when we parted. Talking about "You don't touch another man's coffee cup!" lol.
Morning all. Been awhile since I've had regular discussions on here that is just general in nature. Hoping this week goes smooth as the weekend ended poorly. We lost our grand champion rabbit either Saturday night or Sunday during the day some time. We had went on a 29 hour trip of tent camping and visiting the in-laws at the lake. The other rabbits were all fine and the kids had given them all plenty of water and food. The step daughter who showed with him was wrecked and still having a hard time with it. My cousins (who are around my step kids ages) were with us for the trip and went with them to check out the rabbits. They took it pretty hard as well since we all showed together and bought rabbits together. Luckily all of theirs were ok when they got home. Just didn't know how they'd take the loss after losing their dad in Feb 2019 and not experiencing a death since. They had some tears in their eyes, but they handled it well.
Fried rabbit is delicious. Don't let a good meat go to waste.
