Good morning everyone!
quick story, the year leading up to my "retirement", I was setting everything up and a friend told me that I should try to get on VA Medical so I wouldnt have to pay medical from age 55 to 65 when medicare kicks in.I forgot that I have an appointment at the VA today. Nothing pisses me off more than going to the VA. If you don't hear from me for a few days, we are raising bail monies ... if it is over a week, prolly inpatient at the psych ward with charges pending.![]()

He said that the VA has changed since you used to hear about the horror stories, said that they even had a local clinic in our town so I wouldnt have to go to bham for everything.. h said you should take advantage of your va benefits, your a veteran.
So I started looking into it.. Turns out, not all vets are eligible and they have a rating system to see, wartime injuries are like group 1 and qualify no question as they should.. It goes down from there, I'm in group 8g and do not qualify..
I did get to keep my Employer healthcare (reduced, no dental or vision) but have to pay $432 per month for single no family. It would be double that if I was married, and I'm told that is a very good rate and to quit bitchin.
It just really pisses me off that they can send billions of dollars to Pakistan but cant afford to cover all veterans with health care![]()
Maybe I'm fortunate then.. I think all vets should get the same plan that fuckin congress gets.I really tried to play nice this morning, and was pleasant with everyone. About that time, my PCP doctor asked me why I wasn't taking any meds from the VA. I told him point blank that I have been in the VA system for over thirty years now. I explained the scandals I have endured with my brothers/sisters in arms and asked him point blank as a medical doctor, "would you accept the level of care that the VA provides, in the manner they provide it, for himself and family?". Have you ever seen a person that was perplexed and straight up scared to answer a question as an expert in the field?
I was medically discharged after a horrible knee injury and minor/moderate reinjury. Since 1990, I can count on one finger the number of times I was able to see an orthopedic surgeon within one calendar year of the day my PCP put in a consult.Maybe I'm fortunate then.. I think all vets should get the same plan that fuckin congress gets.
