How many years does Saban keep coaching?

Realistically how many do you think the old man still goes on for?
Well, he’s 69, but looks at least 10 years younger and is in great shape. He stated he was miserable while quarantined, and didn’t realize how much he missed it until he wasn’t able to leave the house. I honestly think he will coach until he physically can’t.

I've always said that he will die on the field. I think he's become so accustomed to this lifestyle and high performance standard that he can't just step away from it, nor does he want to.

And in my opinion, he’s earned the right to do as he damn well pleases!
Definitely! I just kinda feel bad for his family. Have you watched the Belichick and Saban interview that HBO did? It's so clear that all of their life is football. I don't know man. It just seems like maybe a break would be beneficial but then again maybe he (and they) is incapable of taking a break

to be the best at something (bordering on GOAT) requires the focus and attention that few can endure,, if he took those breaks, he would not be who he is.. imo..

I'd agree with that! I think it's both a testament to who he is as a person both positively and negatively. As a perfectionist, I get where some of his demand comes from but I also know how exhausting and isolating and difficult that can be to maintain. You just gotta weigh your pros and cons

Like some people get by on a few hours of sleep, he just seems to be wired that way.

Depends really on the coaching staff hires this offseason. At his age he has turned way more of the Playcalling duties over to his assistants the past 5 years. Sark was probably the best Playcaller that has been at Alabama under Saban and having him as OC for 2 years to stop the turnover at that position really paid off this season. We finally had an OC fully comfortable with the system and the players in the system and with the athletes Alabama recruits it paid off big this year as far as production on the field. Alabama is in a bit of a rebuild on Offense next season so it will be interesting to see what happens and how the new coaches perform.

I have 2 names. "Bear" Bryant and Erk Russell.

Everybody that's anybody knows who "Bear" is. He died within weeks of retiring as a legend.

Erk Russell isn't as well known but his accolades as a head coach are still legendary.

After 17 years as the defensive coordinator for UGA under Vince Dooley, he left for Georgia Southern in 1981 to build a football program from scratch. He spent the next 3 years with walk-ons and young recruits playing club games versus opponents such as the Statesboro Fire Department. In 1984, he took his Eagles into 1-AA (FCS as it is known today) and finished the season with an 8-3 record for it's first official CFB season in over 40 years. Over the next 5 seasons, Russell would win 3 National Championships in '85, '86' and '89.

Erk retired at the end of the '89 season after winning a third national title and becoming the only 15–0 college team of the 20th century. He was 62 years old. He spent the next 18 years enjoying his retirement.

So excellence can have more than one ending.

I do not want Bama to see Saban go out like Paterno or Bowden. Allowed to stay well beyond when they should have, just to be forced out.

I hope Saban takes the opportunity to go out on a high note a la Erk and enjoy the rest of his life and get reacquainted with his family before he faces the same inevitable that we all face.

Looks as though we will lose him one piece at a time...
