Which is more important, rushing the QB or defending the pass?

Which would you rather have

So we are talking about coverage in the secondary against pressure against the pass. O.K. but unless I'm mistaken, and I probably am, not having played football, it would seem any defense would be about coverage. Meaning defensive pressure would be applied within the package, itself.
I remember Oregon's defense. Vs. Auburn.
It seemed to rely heavily on pressure.
I like how teams play package defense. I think that's what makes a team successful.
I wish there was some kind of tutorial. I don't understand the difference between nickel and dime but that's probably what we are getting at, in a roundabout way.

I'll put it simply. With elite pass rushers you can pressure the QB with only 4 people rushing the passer. That gives you 7 people to cover potential receivers.

Without elite pass rushers, you have to bring 5 or 6 to get pressure. That gives you only 5 or 6 people to cover potential receivers.

Having elite pass rushers makes everyone else's job a lot easier.

Which I think is a defensive formation. I know, for example, Texas Christian utilizes one that sends four I think, to the pass rush.
I'm not very familiar, obviously, with those, but it ties together with what I remember.

Dude, we need to talk. There's a lot of shit that you need to learn about football.

What do you mean? It's called a 4-2-5 defensive formation. I think it's used exclusively against the spread. Don't fucking patronize me asswipe. Seriously.

Defensive formations are fluid during the game. You have a "base" formation, then you have adjustments based on the performance of the opposing offense. I'm not patronizing you. I'm trying to help you understand more than you apparently know. I get it that you understand textbook football, but shit changes after every play in every game you watch. I don't mean to be a dick, but you don't seem to understand all of that very well. I want to help you. If you think I'm an asswipe because I want to help you, you have more problems than I initially thought. I have more work to do than previously suspected.

Read my posts. I wasn't wrong. Not in the slightest. You think I don't know about substutuions? I said Texas Christian utilizes a 4-2-5. Actually I'm sure it varies but the point is I know something about it. Four down linemen. Two linebackers. And five defensive backs. I get pissed off if I make a mistake as if that defines who I am.
I'm probably the only truly honest person here. You probably sucked ass (I know I did) in sports, but the passing of time, as it tends to be, makes you think you were great.
Keep living the lie, my friend. I choose to live in reality. I know what defensive formations are. I played in middle school. I was terrible. I bet I understand it better than you ever will and that's pathetically sad. Try reading a book for once. Asswipe.

When someone is offering you some help, it’s generally not a good idea to piss in their beer. Let’s try and play nice.

He wasn't trying to help. He was being a jerk. It's inevitable think to pretend to be dnsrter than you actually aren't. I was right. I bet he had no fucking clue what he was saying, then trued to cover by saying he knew more.
I'm calling major bullshit on it. 4-2-5 is in fact a defensive formation. He said I was FOS. I'm taking this personal. Quit covering. 4-2-5 is a way to defend the spread. I know about it because I understand defensive philosophy. It's a base coverage. F W I W.
Dude clearly didn't know his shit .

I’m asking you nicely. Tone it down. I won’t ask again.

So you explained yourself and my ignorant dickness. Now that you're done with that can you explain to me the difference between a nickel and a dime defensive back and the appropriate time to use one or the other, or maybe both? I'll wait.

No. But again I referenced that earlier.

Do whatever you want. I'm tired of being treated poorly. Read the posts. I'm not initiating anything. I said I never played competitive football. Never claimed to know Jack Squat. I never claimed to be an expert about anything other than maybe the proper metric to apply against a national championship. And even that I'm a novice in. So tell me what exactly is the problem? My stupidity? Sorry I can't help being stupid.

I may not agree with, nor like what you have to say/post but I will vigorously defend your right to say it. Sometimes it’s not what you say, but how you say it. When you start attacking a well known and respected poster your crossing the line. All I’m asking is that you tone it down try not to attack other posters. Feel free to debate/ attack the subject, or someone’s take on a subject. Just don’t attack the poster.

I'm trying to help. Maybe I lack the credentials. Probably so. I think I admitted my lack of experience within the college football envelope. I never advanced that far. I simply want consideration for things I do know. Nobody else knew the relative proficiency of the Western Athletic Conference. I do because I researched it
40% compared to 70%. Southeastern Conference. That's essential information.
