Let's try this again. What I mean by the published question is when did the nyt first publish it? You say you got it from there.
I developed the method independently to any publication. I wasn't aware at the time it had a very close (virtually identical, or if not, entirely coincidental) connection to what was the New York Times. It isn't around. It was but disappeared. But remains relevant today, at least partly because of my work.
I never said I represent the New York Times. But my method is the focus of what was it.
I'm actually quite proud of it. I was able to quantify something already in print. So if you're asking me who the proprietor is. It's me. But I'd rather not take credit. Particularly when I simply do research. I wasn't trying to invent anything new. I was grateful that it already was in place that made it easier for me to market it here.
People don't have to like it. But the simple fact is it existed long before I tinkered with it.

I don't know why but I like you as a poster/character.

It's probably because I only read the first sentence or so before moving on... ;)
Again entirely inconsequential. Whether or not you like me isn't relevant. Whether or not you agree with my methods at least is approaching relevancy. I don't expect it necessarily want people to love me. I would appreciate a little consideration, however.
As far as the legitimacy I think it's unparalleled. I don't think there's a better way to select a deserving national champion. That's why I think it's ridiculous to consider abandoning what has proven to work. In favor of one (playoff) that hasn't.

Seems folks enjoy the back and forth mocking with a certain amount of hilarity. But, 2 things.
First:
This is what counts for us fans

Second. And I ask this in all sincerity.
When was this relative proficiency thing first published?
I haven't published it because I don't really work that way. I've given multiple (ask anyone here if you don't believe) accounts of it. It's as comprehensive a metric as I can think of. If you are asking me how I developed it, it came as a result of interest as well as my own intuition, mostly.
It seems to cover all the bases. To the extent a person would necessarily have to be pretty dense not to see the advantages it gives. Is it really that surprising, for example a conference as prestigious as the WAC (Western Athletic Conference) would rate at 40% cumulative relative proficiency?
That seems pretty fair to me. I mean they weren't bad teams. The WAC was always pretty decent. And I don't try to deceive.
If it was less than 40% I wouldn't lie to make it higher. It was actually 39.9%. F.W.I.W. I guess I fudged it a little. But I did the same for the SEC. They weren't exactly 70%. I figured if it's close enough let them claim it.
.696 or something, I can't remember. 70%.
Does that sound like a slant? It isn't.
That's a fair rendering. That means we can compare WAC to SEC directly. .4/.7 = 4/7.

This exactly. It's so hard for defensive backs to guard people for extending periods of time, even the most elite defensive backs will give up plays.
I think what happens at least from my vantage point is the receivers try to get a DB to make a wrong move or to over commit. Following they make a play. I've never played DB. The closest I came was linebacker. But they are given assignments. I've tried to follow defense strategy. Occasionally you will see a really staunch defense. I remember a game (professional football) between Bud Carson and Marty Schottenheimer. Martyball. Anyway it was a sight to behold. I don't think no
there's ever a substitute to a hellacious defense. I think that's what makes a champion and it's a damn shame Schottenheimer never won a World Championship. I think the best trans sometimes lose momentum. F.W.I.W.

What's sad is that you obviously believe your own bullshit. That's the one reason I havent suggested you go back to Rivals, because I do firmly believe that if someone believes in something, no matter how ridiculous, then that is their own right... just do not be disappointed if no one gives it any credence especially if you continually tout it as the one "be all" system... and no completely math based metric will ever replace the human factor for determining an outright Champion.

I was removed forcibly from Rivals. After an altercation with Autzen_Rules. A person with whom I still hold a grievance. With respect to your own rhetoric, I said, simply, I have a method that seems to address relative placement within selection protocol.
I don't really remember pushing it on anyone. I did give a fairly comprehensive treatment.
I probably won't do that again. Whether or not it suits you, makes me no nevermind. As far as the measure to which it applies, I quite frankly couldn't say. Nobody's yet to give me much credence for it. Does that surprise you? I was challenged for 'not giving a fuck' so I grew a pair of testicles. I don't really appreciate the way you categorize me. It obviously matters much more to me than you realize. You are free not to utilize it. About all I can say about it with all sincerity, I consider it to be my magnum opus. So.
Now that I've revealed practically everything I know what's it feel to be the one who feels sufficiently qualified to render it obsolete?

I must inquire at this point is this simply some kind of pissing contest? I mean it really isn't that important for me to win. You are asking for certification. That I can deliver on. Maybe you believe I'm incapable? That's o k. Believe whatever. I will prevail. I always do. You won't win.

You have had unlimited time to deliver, and you never do. At this point I can only assumed you are incapable, so I am going entertain myself with my responses to your nonsense.

I am delivering. You are simply saying I can't. I already know thats a lie. I always be deliver. I've yet to not carry through. It might take a while. But that isn't my problem. That's your problem. It isn't really essential that I get everything perfect anyway. It isn't exactly an examination. Testing my intelligence. When I demonstrate it will simply prove I wasn't lying to you. I never do.

Keep telling myself what? That I'm not lying? Does it appear to you that I'm lying? I understand the frustration. I sympathize. I'm trying to unravel over a century of championships. That's not exactly a walk in the park. I'll save you some suspense. A team not undefeated will be an unlikely NC. That isn't to say every circumstance will warrant such an event. But generally it is much tougher to tread water without waders. I'm doing it every thing I can. I want the final result to be reflective of my metric. It won't end debate. It will likely upset some people but I'm not especially worried about that aspect. I come to play.

That may not be what you are seeing. Most NFL and some college teams have route trees. A couple of receivers will clear out an area and one or two others will have multiple option routes, determined by the defensive player. It is not a matter of making a mistake really but rather making the DB declare his technique and responsibility. Every defense has weaknesses ... zones have soft spots and seams, man has rubs, crosses and double moves for example.

A DB can give perfect coverage and still give up a reception against a hi/low concept. There is a reason the fade/back shoulder option is devastating as well, But again this is based on the throwing windows and rhythm. Throw late or early by a beat and there is a good chance that it will be picked or batted down. This is why you can give a good accurate QB time in the pocket and he will pick you apart but if you get a rush on an elite QB then you stand a chance.

I've actually met him in the real world. Just like the rest of us on this big blue marble, he's got more problems than a math book.
Was he nice? I mean was he pleasant? I don't want to disparage the guys reputation. I think we've all got issues. At least I do. He might be o.k. but he was always making me out to be an idiot. I've yet to meet a single person. I had conversations with Brian. UCF_Honors. Over the telephone. F.W.I.W.

He's a really nice guy. Personally, I think he thinks way too much, but a pretty good dude. Same as Honors in a lot of ways.(Yeah, met him in the real world, too.)

All of us have tendencies to focus on our way of thinking to the point that it rubs others the wrong way. We can't help the way we're built. Being human and all, we tend to forget that those other people that we're surrounded by.....well, they're human, too.
