I have been around Joni Ernst on a few occasions and have found her agreeable. Chuck Grassley is a darn good guy in person. He can be funny. I have personally known my last 2 state house members and the current one, I have known his family for years and they are salt of the Earth. I might not agree with everything that they vote for but I can still appreciate them as good people. I have met a couple that I'm not fond of as well, and I've pissed a beauracrat or 2 off in Washington DC, and in Des Moines. They were being dumb asses and got called on it. I belong to an organization that allows me to come into close contact with these politician's (if I wanted to, it could be very frequently) and sometimes the people behind the scenes. The unelected one's behind the scenes can sometimes be the hardest to get through to, they have agendas as well, and don't see the real world for what it truly is.

He was my first CIC and I loved him back then. Fast forward a few years and look at things like the cocaine trafficking/crack epidemic instituted by the CIA and lets just say that the luster has worn off. He is still better than those that followed after his term, but damn.

Was a man of principal that accomplished so much for the country with being president just as small piece. He bit the bullet on relection and broke his campaign promise to save a tettering economy.
Him and Truman are my two favorite post war presidents.
America needs more men like them. That while they have their political beliefs and platforms. They understood their knowledge of the universe was incomplete and required insight from those with differing opinions. And were willing to choose the nation over personal belief
