I had one where the guy was driving on the wrong side of the road and coming right at me. Turned on the overhead emergency lights and luckily he stopped.

When I walked up to the car and asked him if he knew why I stopped him he said, “because I’m drunk?” I replied no, because you were driving on the wrong side of the street. He replied “that will do it.”

And I'm being very serious about this. What is called legally drunk all the way to coma and maybe alcohol poisoning I really do question.

I know there is a limit for driving. OK. I understand that.

But for alcoholic class drinkers like I was, a tolerance is built up that would put the average drinker on the floor while someone like me would keep right on drinking. And I drove a lot under those conditions.

So I kinda smirk at what the professional community has set at levels for whatever.

Genetics plays a huge part in "tolerance". Some people can drink 2 beers and fall down. Some people can drink 20 and barely notice. Putting a blanket judgement on everyone is wrong no matter the subject.

Height/weight scales too! I lifted a lot in the Army and was always being taped. You fucking want me at 5’11”/140?? Pffffft….

That’s very impressive. There’s probably no way a person could achieve that without a completely dysfunctional liver, but I still admire that accomplishment.

So, we’ve got a minimum standard that we all have to meet when we take our driver’s test at the DMV to get our license. I have always felt like a person should be able to take that test while intoxicated, and if you pass, you could legally drive up to the BAC that you registered at the time of your test. You should even be able to go back to get retested occasionally to up your score.

We’ve all heard some dipshit tell us that they can drive better drunk than they can sober. I’d never go so far as to make that claim, but I will say that I can drive better drunk than a lot of jackasses out there on the road no matter their condition. We hear stories all the time about some old guy leaving blood in his wake after plowing through a farmer’s market. That’s just a tragic accident, but if I have five beers and drive home without incident, I’m a criminal.

I had an acquaintance in HS (friend of friends) that was drunk driving and the chase led through three counties. He finally pulled over and the state trooper said "Boy, Fuck youre drunk! get your ass out of the car!" The suspect then proceeded to open the door and puked all over the officers shoes. Did not end well as I was told... Thank God nobody was hurt.
