Following the Bear Bryant era, Alabama went through Ray Perkins and Bill Curry as coaches, going a combined 58-25-1 with one SEC championship.

There was a brief resurgence in the Gene Stallings era, and then the team fell into middle of the road obscurity for years, until Saban came around.

And IMHO Curry as the answer but they fired him to get the good old boys back in town. His last season he was 10-1 and ranked 5th in the AP/UPI.

College athletes file lawsuit against NCAA challenging redshirt rule

A group of current and former college athletes want the NCAA to change its five-year clock so players can compete for five years, instead of four.

When you can't or refuse to field an offenseive scheme that can throw the ball further than 5 yards down the field, and every team you play knows it, of course your play is going to be classified as concerning. Should be a pathetic category. It's so frustrating, year after year. Ferentz needs to retire.

Actually he got a competent coordinator last year, but ferentz has an iron hand on what can be run as far as scheme. Basically ferentz wants a risk adverse offense, and to him route trees beyond 10 yards are risky, he's been that way for years.

Really. After the unheard of run by Saban I kinda expected a slump from BAMA unless they pull something together. The talent is there. The coaching, well, we shall see.

Welcome, Bama! We've been down here since 2010. A nice middle class suburb of Horton homes with a picket fence, no back yard, and neighbors a foot away on each side. Y'all have to beat someone in the top 30 for them to pour a slab for a porch in the back yard, though...

Each come with a courtesy pitbull and a -- shall we say --Brown (or is it gold?)1993 Mustang on blocks in the front yard.
