Big Ten closing in on their media deal

ESPN is an evil & vile communist propaganda outlet.
Evil, maybe, but capitalist to the Nth degree, so not communist in the least.

The way I see this mapping out is ESPN will use some (but not all) of the money that they had set aside to get the B1G and lock up their late night content with the PAC. That will give them the SEC, ACC and PAC for their afternoon and evening programming. Since CBS and NBC will have their additional content with the B1G, that will leave the Big XII to sign Tier 1/2 with Fox and tier 3 with ESPN+.

The PAC will never forget how ESP1N went out of their way to fvck us. They had their mouths wrapped so tightly around SEC pen0r that it's a miracle their producers and announcers could breath.

Money talks, so we shall see. I wonder if the PAC would have been better off signing with ESPN for the PACNetwork from the beginning.
They would have but the former PAC commish did his best to burn that conference to the ground. I knew Larry Scott was trash when the PAC had the chance to nab both Okie schools and he botched it on purpose.

Thoughts on ESPN not having B1G content for the first time in 40 years? Or how this will impact the contracts for the PAC or Big XII, either positive or negatively...

My initial thoughts......ESPN may go after the PAC market. Push an agenda for many mid afternoon games that would be prime time on the East coast. Kliavkoff is the right guy to buy into that higher level of exposure. He did a helluva job as MGM Resorts International President of Entertainment and Sports. Took them to the next level.

Being a simple guy, the key number for me is 4. Have the P5 just become the P4 already. Then there are 4 major networks: ABC/ESPN, Fox, CBS, and NBC. There are also 4 common game times. 12, 3:30, 7, & 10:30pm. How about the P4 have contracts with all 4 networks for different time slots.

Ex: Fox would be B1G noon, ACC 3:30, SEC 7, B12/Pac 10:30;
ABC/ESPN- B12/PAC noon, B1G 3:30, ACC 7, SEC 10:30;
CBS: SEC noon, B12/PAC 3:30, B1G 7, ACC 10:30;
NBC: ACC noon, SEC 3:30, B12/PAC 7, B1G 10:30.

SEC is gonna make them renegotiate to an even bigger deal than what the B1G is getting because the SEC could pretty much shut ESPN down if they don't.......
ESP1N is going to give the $EC hams next time around and you're going to like it.

Here's my take:

Winners:

Big Ten - Obvious reasons
NBC - With ND flirting with ending their independence status, NBC locked up some good primetime content. Worst case scenario, they have primetime Big Ten games instead. Best case scenario, they can pair this with the ND game at 3:30. On top of that, they'll get some content for Peacock.

Losers:

ESPN - It's not the end of ESPN but getting shut out of one of the premier conferences in America isn't great.
CBS - Lost the SEC game of the week and replaced it with the Big Ten's #2 or #3 game. On top of that, they're paying A LOT more for it.

Next Steps:

- ESPN has to pivot to the PAC 12 and Big 12 over the next two years. I expect they will make a push to control most of the tier 1 content here.
- After seeing the Big Ten's media deal, ND has the information it needs to negotiate with NBC and make a decision. Depending on the Irish decision, things could change a lot or not at all.
