I can tell you when ND was HC hunting to replace Weis, that Ferentz was one of the final 4. Was brought in. And I don't know why he didn't become the coach. But I can say on good authority it was him, Kelly, B Stoops, and one other that they have never really confirmed. But there was a few names out there.

Have often wondered if Iowa would have been better or worse off if that would have happened

The way UW gets rid of their coaches is the donors threaten to stop donating. Money talks.

Years ago when Hayden Fry left Bob Stoops was everyone's pick to succeed Hayden at his Alma mater. He interviewed, told them he wanted the job, was ready to be the next Iowa coach. The stupid interview committee whoever it was wanted to interview everyone that applied, or some kind of stupid shit like that. Stoops already had an offer on the table from Oklahoma that had to be answered in a day. He couldn't wait, he needed an answer. Iowa could have hired him on the spot, but instead played stupid. So we ended up with risk averse ferentz.

It does, but I think ferentz has dirt or something on the big donors, for the most part he, for some reason, stays in their good graces. They are all buddies or something. He's known some of them for 24 years now.

Iowa fans deserve better. He did Iowa dirty by not demoting his kid after last season.

Just to ask. Who would replace him? I mean. Iowa isn't considered historically one of the destination schools. But is there anyone specific that is becoming a fan favorite kind of thing ?

I don't have any idea at this time. Most want someone who will update the offense and recruiting while leaving phil Parker to do his thing on defense

If you are looking for an offensive minded guy. I would honestly look at the coach at Toledo. I am amazed he doesn't have a better gig yet. He plays a very fun offense to watch and just scheme sound on so many levels. I expect to see him somewhere P5 soon.

CFB PLAYOFF SEMIFINAL (ROSE BOWL)
Projected matchup: No. 2 Texas vs. No. 3 Ohio State

Sign us up right now for this potential meeting of elites in the Playoff. The Buckeyes have been on the verge of a national title several times in recent years, but haven't quite gotten to the final podium under Ryan Day. Perhaps it happens this season? If Ohio State reaches the final four, that'll likely mean this team got through the Big Ten gauntlet and won the conference. Even with a loss to Michigan, however, the Buckeyes have the win over Notre Dame that could hold water later.

Projected matchup: No. 1 Georgia vs. No. 4 Washington

Washington moves into this week's Playoff projection after improving to 5-0 with a win at Arizona. It wasn't as sexy as the first four victories of the campaign, but the Huskies look like the Pac-12's best thus far. That's subjective of course and will be corrected if wrong in a couples weeks against Oregon. Until Georgia falls, the Bulldogs will be the nation's top team. It nearly happened Saturday on The Plains, but Brock Bowers saved the day.
