Before the championship game on Monday. Can we talk about if the committee got it right ?

I don't completely buy the whole neither of these teams would have gotten in under the 4 team rule. Because either one of these teams could have been ranked higher in the final rankings.

While I wasn't a fan of this system when it was introduced. It has grown on me through the year. I still think it needs some tweaks. But overall think it has been a great post season.

The best teams on each side of the bracket have won out. I think they should have put ND as a 6 and osu as the 7, bumping ped st to the 8. This champ game would have been in the semi's. Seeds are oh so important when it gets to this point. Especially with the auto bye in the first round for conference winners. And does the extra week layoff hurt the bye teams? Sure they get more time to heal but does it get them out of rhythm for awhile, possibly. Look at Oregon and ASU. I didn't see much at all of the ND/Georgia game so I can't comment there, but ASU and Oregon looked asleep at the beginning of their games. At least ASU recovered.
What would have happened if they had dropped ASU and Georgia down seeding wise.

Personally, I could have defended it being
1. Oregon, 2 ND, 3 Boise, 4 Georgia 5 Texas 6 OSU 7 Indiana 8 Ped st
9 Tennessee 10 ASU 11 Clemson 12 SMU

IMHO they got it as right as possible given the framework they had. I do believe that auto bids will no longer determine seeding which IMHO is the biggest flaw in this system. Also I would rather see either an eight or 16 team format with 8 being ideal.
Fully agree with 8 or 16. I hated 12 with a bye immediately. Not my call, but the bye teams ...........never stood a chance......

I think they definitely got it right. Initially I wanted an 8 team playoff, but I like the 12 team. Hope they dont expand further than that, this aint March Madness.

3 weeks without playing at game speed. All 4 bye teams lost because they were rusty.

Make it 8 or 16 and everyone is dealing with the same time line.
Were there a good workaround to the Army/Navy game, I would suggest to have the first round one week after the CCGs and play the quarter finals in bowl games, semis in major bowls and the CG one week later.

It is interesting that the bye teams actually suffered for having a bye. I agree they were rusty. IMO the top 4 teams should be allowed to choose if they want the bye, or, if they want to be placed in the first round, and against the equivalent weakest opponent, is. #1 would be able to choose either a bye, or, play round 1 against #12 (or lowest team to make the bracket). Then #2 would get the same choice, etc.

Novel idea. I actually like that a lot.
