Lee Corso's final 'College GameDay' show will be Aug. 30 at Ohio State

BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) — Lee Corso's final headgear pick on “College GameDay” will be on the campus where it all started.

ESPN's iconic show will begin its 39th season at Ohio State before the defending national champion Buckeyes host the Texas Longhorns on Aug. 30.

Corso, who turns 90 in August, announced earlier this year that his final show would be on the opening week of the season.
Corso began his popular headgear segment on Oct. 5, 1996, before Ohio State faced Penn State. Since then, he has gone 286-144 in 430 selections wearing everything from helmets and mascot heads to dressing up as the Fighting Irish leprechaun from Notre Dame, the Stanford tree and historic figures James Madison and Benjamin Franklin. He has worn 69 different school’s mascot headgear.

Corso — the lone remaining member of GameDay's original cast — has selected and worn Brutus Buckeye's headgear a record 45 times. Alabama is next with 38.

This will be the 26th appearance by “College GameDay” in Columbus. The Buckeyes have a 19-6 record in those games.

He was a living zombie for these past 5+ years not to mention who in their right mind watches Gameday? It's the CFB version of Good Morning America. As far as Dickie V goes, I would turn off the volume when he was calling the game. I remember when Jim Valvano said in not so many words he dreaded doing games with that guy. Two more that are iconic but were reasons to turn off the volume were Brent Musburger and Howard Cosell. Musburger should have never been given a microphone and Cosell ruined MNF games for me time and again when he would start shit with Don Meredith during a blowout.

So...you are a hater?

I was watching live when the infamous "Fuck it" episode came out, and then hours later when he apologized for the "expletive" Herbstreits reaction was priceless, called him a pottymouth.. 🤣🤣🤣
I had quit Gameday long before then, but that was a classic. I'm not a Corso fan but I have to say that the level of respect he has from his peers and coworkers is quite impressive.

TY @Deathroll for turning me onto this, many laughs. I sent it to a bunch of my friends and several had already seen it lol
That is funny as can be. My wife looked at me as I was laughing at that and I swear I've seen that look before ... probably on the face of the nurse administering my first dose of Thorazine.

Yeah that one took me by surprise. Its an ongoing joke in my house. I started asking my wife for a butter knife all serious and stuff. lmao

I had my earbud in so my wife couldn't hear the song. She thought I was having an episode :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: .
I sent it to a couple guys at work and I was asking them for a butter knife all serious and shit and they forgot about the song. They were actually looking for a plastic one, and I said "That wont due" and reminded them of the joke. Hilarious.

Should've happened 15-20 years ago

I've never liked Corso. He's always been a Kentucky hater. Coached at Louisville and Indiana. Every fucking time the Kentucky game would come up for him to pick on Gameday, he'd pick us to lose and make some snide ass comment.
