I've never been a fan of ryes. Just don't like 'em for whatever reason.

They carry a bit more spice. I think a good rye in an old fashioned is better than bourbon.

I'm partial to a sweet old fashioned. Sweeter the better. Dump that syrup in.

Back on the old board, before I knew anything at all about bourbon, GusPlus tipped me to try Noah’s Mill as a great mid-price bourbon. I still know only enough about all this whiskey stuff to be comfortable in knowing what I like even if I can’t really well describe why I like it, but damned if that Noah’s Mill still remains one of my favorites.

Have not tried it. Had a chance to buy one at a liquor store in Tripoli, CO driving back from Sedona about 4 years ago but they wanted a king’s ransom for it. I passed.

Never had it but would love to try. Im intrigued. You cant go wrong with a Buffalo Trace product. I'll ask my Bourbon pro buddy.

Buffalo Trace is a sure thing. you are right, you can’t go wrong with it.

Though I'll admit I did dry January and it's carried over since. Not saying I'll quit completely but I'm not all that interested right now.

The only hard stuff that I may can handle is Glenlivet and I drink Yuengling when I buy beer.

Livet 12 is good stuff. I usually recommend Glenmorangie 10 if someone wants to jump into the Scotch world.

Buffalo Trace is a sure thing. you are right, you can’t go wrong with it.

BT and Eagle Rare are excellent. It's just a crap shoot to find them in NoVa because the state controls liquor with it's ABC stores. History of hording the good stuff and lottery scams by people working for ABC. No independent liquor stores is crappy for whisky lovers.

Don't get me wrong, I like scotch, it's just made in Scotland, so I just prefer the American version.
