If your form 4473 is not approved within 3 days, the FBI issues a "default proceed", allowing the FFL Dealer to sell the gun. I'm not sure how this affects online sales though. I always purchase my guns from local dealers (helps local economy, get my gun immediately).

I've never had this happen to me, but my buddy has.

I've never had this happen to me, but my buddy has.

I usually buy local but the last shotgun was so new I had to get it online and had it shipped to one of the local dealers I use. He got paid for handling the transaction. Knowing his markups he was OK. Plus this was not the only firearm I had bought from/through him.
