I done goofed

Yes, I just mentioned it. It is to be a four star casino/resort at the Pinnacle around exit five or seven of I81 on the VA side. Supposed to have an indoor water park. VA approved a referendum for Bristol, VA to okay gambling and if it passes this November a second one will open up near my house in an old Mall. I am not sure if your casino is dependent on that vote but I can find out.

The second casino is the Seminole Hard Rock. Ours isn't necessitated on a vote since Bristol is historic treaty land of ours we ceded prior to the Indian removal act which gives us first bid at purchase with rights to put it into federal reserve status. Kind of cool how it works.

The Seminoles on the other hand have no treaty rights to the land since they never called it home.

That is awesome!!!! I was curious because the local talk radio seemed to talk like it was a done deal but I was not sure if it was still contingent on the referendum passing. I was thinking about getting certification for poker dealer if the other casino opened but since this is a certainty I will really have to put some thought in to it, especially if employees are restricted from playing there.

Not long ago it was really in doubt as to whether the construction would happen. Bristol fell behind on putting in the water, electric, internet, and roads as they were required. When I say fell behind, I mean they hadn't done shit.

Doesn't explain the elaborate construction. Depth of the "money pit", flood tunnels, etc. No...this is something big. I've thought it for 40 years.

I really thought in the end it would be a repurposed Viking base of operations which would rewrite the known North American history. I still disagree with the booby trapped narrative because IMHO there was no mechanism to flood in the event of an unauthorized break in as much as it was purposefully flooded initially with the on/off switch hid for security. Either way, someone really valued what is there.

I was an Ag grad so thankfully outside of stupid pre-reqs I didn't have to deal with the "smarty pants" liberal arts folks much.

My advisor was a pot smoking hippy and my favorite professor was also a full time rancher and they were so apolitical that it made life nice.

Give us cow humping schools all the shit you guys want BUT when it's gets down to it, I never had to deal with the craziness we hear about at universities.
I took a survey course in college, our professor gave each one of our group of 3 a semester long project, and our project was to survey a quarter mile long section of the Canadian river that has a bend in it and monitor that weekly for erosion/buildup and turn in a report at the end of the semester.

One member of our team was a pothead. When we got to the river for the first time he said 'man this riverbank is a good spot to plant some weed'. He pulled out his bag, sorted out the seeds and we planted them. Only 2 plants survived, we harvested (prematurely) them at the end of the semester, cut them up, wrapped them in foil paper and throw them in the dryer to dry.

That was some cheap ass low quality shit. I smoked 2 fat joints just to get a buzz. Good time tho.

@batchaps4me and @OldDevilDawg you have both piqued my interest in oak island again. I used to watch it but a couple years ago got rid of DirecTV and it slowly has slipped from my mind. Please get me up to speed. What are they doing in the money pit? You have talked about it a little but all you've done is make me want to know more, and the flood tunnels, have they figured them out? What about the pond in the middle, anything ever come of that? I know that they found old wood there and a coin? What about all the tubes they bored into the ground a couple years ago?

It would appear that they have found the original searcher tunnel that was dug 14 feet from the money pit. This is huge because the exact location of the MP has been lost over time. Also they have installed a metal coffer dam at the Cove and have discovered French drains that could be the flood tunnel source along with a lot of structures that predate any searcher activity. They are waiting for a permit to dig in the swamp and have done core samples there that show the swamp to be man made.

Thanks man. If you guys would keep me updated from time to time it would be great. I really like ancient history so these types of things are always intriguing to me.

Were you in Oklahomas hydrology program? Also that sounds amazing haha

I was majored in civil eng. and survey was a required course.
I took surveying and highway design as additional civil engineering classes. Played a big part in getting a job in cadastral cartography.

You mention the man made swamp, but left out year 1220 date, and the later 1600/1700's date for the "seeing eye" site inside the triangle, situate in the exact center of a pentagram map overlay that lines up with Nolan's cross. Pertinent detail implying Templar work in the swamp over 250 years before Christopher Columbus.

I left the date off intentionally because I like to see other corroborating evidence before I comment on it. I am not saying that they are incorrect, just that they previously have made claims and then totally drop them without explanation. IMHO the pentagram map based on the paintings are a little far fetched, and they have other reasons to dig there when the permit arrives.

I lurked there for a few years and the heartfelt response from y'all over his passing really moved me … IIRC y'all set up a fund for his kids college and/or funded training support dogs in his name. My apologies for not remembering exactly, but y'all showed me a different side of message boards then. I had noticed the good old fashioned fun and friendly ribbing between the group and was afraid I would screw it up if I got active.

But yes, definitely the track and a couple of times a year they will have events where you can pay like $20 and make a few laps in your car on the track. I can find out when that happens next if you would like. We are relatively close to the Carter Fold and I have even driven up to Pikeville, KY on a day trip to drive to the Hatfield/McCoy sites. If we cant find someone to post bail, we can visit the cell that George Jones spent three days in -one night, as he told it.
To catch you up on the history, we funded a support dog in memory of DawgEStyle. His real life name Was Bobby Dollar. Hence the dog's name, Dollar:
