Is it just me? Losing interest in NCAA sports...

I'm losing some interest as well. I still love college sports but it's a different love than when I first began to watch & love them. Yeah some of it is NIL, portal, & some of the playoff systems & definitely conference changes. Those rivalry games & nostalgia all seem like a former life now. The corporate & TV greed taking over is awful. I really don't have much interest of Iowa vs Oregon or Washington vs Purdue. I'd rather Oregon, Washington, Oregon State, & Washington State battle for North Pacific bragging rights yearly. Same with Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, & Ohio State. Notre Dame playing Michigan in September as well as playing USC as well.

I've lost a lot of interest myself. Just a decade ago I watched every game I could from noon to midnight, flipping channels between plays. I subscribed to a couple of "insider" boards and followed recruiting religiously. IMHO with the mismanagement of the portal and NIL, we have become business associates instead of "families and/or nations" as fans.

NIL is the thing that could cause me to lose interest. I am trying to ignore it but if it gets any more out of hand I dunno... I have loved college football since I was a teenager so its a hard habit to break but when these "student athletes" start acting like entitled aholes it just makes me wanna turn the channel.

Yeah, after nearly forty years of getting season tickets, I've stopped and stay home. I will not support paying college players for their allegiance. That is for pro sports. I realize all the under the table payments that was going on for decades was happening, but it was not openly supported and subject to fines. There was once the pretext of operating for the betterment of players education and allegiance to the school and what it represents. Now it's allegiance to money. That's pro sports.

It is no longer how well you recruit and develop your players, it's how well you steal someone else's developed player to improve your team. Just throw money at them. Allegiance to a coach and school are now relatively irrelevant compared to just five years ago. The emerging scenario will likely be games being intentionally thrown since their services simply go to the highest bidder. This needs to be addressed immediately, if it's not too late, already.

I'm not against the NIL but I wish it was structured differently. But combined with unlimited portal moves and 50 years of Covid eligibility ...
I'm not against a stipend for college living, but players are leaving schools to get a NIL that they can't get where they are at. I don't mind pursuing a NIL, or an improved NIL at another school, but limit it to one time only and cap it at five years. I would allow one additional opportunity if the coach is fired (or school drops the program). Edit: Still capped at five years.

+1. Its became a business i am not interested in supporting. Couldn't imagine i would ever say that. Old habits die hard though.

My schedule for work makes me miss every good game also. Somehow or I am too tired to bother with it.

I'm about loyalty and family and the sport has turned into about money. It's not about our boys battling your boys. It's about our mercenaries battling your mercenaries.

College sports are increasingly becoming professionalized, where money matters more than loyalty to a school. This shift undermines the original purpose of developing players and teams, replacing it with a system driven by financial incentives and player transfers.
