Maybe but Boise State is a better team than Virginia at this point.

Michael Penix put on a show yesterday. It's crazy to say this but the PAC 12 looks very good this year. It may be the 2nd best conference behind the SEC.

Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. finished last season as the nation’s leading passer at 357.0 yards per game. And if Saturday was any indication, he may very well top that mark this fall. The redshirt-senior signal-caller torched the Boise State defense for 450 yards through the air in a 56-19 rout at Husky Stadium, completing 29 of 40 passes with five touchdowns to zero interceptions. The Huskies’ 56 points was the most allowed by Boise State since the 2007 season.

It took Washington a quarter to really get its footing, but once it did, Penix had the Husky offense cruising up and down the field. He’s the best deep-ball passer in the country. He’s a legitimate threat to steal the Heisman from Caleb Williams. Penix opened his 2023 season with 450 yards and five touchdowns — his fourth 400-yard game in a UW uniform.
