Multiple Income Streams

I was going to retire three years ago but the owner of the bank made me an offer I could not turn down. So I am semi-retired.

I work one day a week and occasionally more if needed. All told I have a salary, commissions, Social Security, dividends from an investment account, and a check from the Federal Reserve where I took an early retirement. I have not turned the income on from my two IRA accounts.

I have been paying taxes on six figures all three years as I have for years.

In addition I owe no debts and have over $200,000 in emergency funds.

There are people with more than me but to quote one of my Doc friends if you bring in more than you spend all is good. All is good.

I’m luckier than most. I have a military retirement check I get every month around $1600.00. You can’t live off of it, but it’s nice to have.
I have a good job making > $75k per year. I also have a nice nest egg in my 401k. I’m > 59 1/2 so I can draw on that penalty free if I want to. My home is paid for, my truck and two cars are all paid for. On top of that, being a military retiree, I don’t have to buy ridiculously high medical insurance.
I’m not rich, but I don’t have to worry too much about the everyday costs that most folks do.
I think I’ve done ok for a poor, dumb, uneducated redneck from the backwoods of Alabama.

My dad was a WWII vet and one of my older brothers did the 20 yrs and retired out of the Navy. I remember him telling me about his plan and how you can retire from the military after 20yrs so as a young teen that was my plan. at 17 I started dating my first "serious" girlfriend and once she gave it up all my plans were derailed and that's all I could think about. Ended up chasing poon thru my 20's and teaching Ballroom dancing for 12 years because it was the only job that allowed me to date out of my league. Then I met my ex-wife and I got into IT and the rest is history. I do have the 401k that is doing so so but at least I have little debt so I am shooting for 65 to retire.

Wish I had done the Navy 20 yr plan tho. Poon is over rated and doesn't pay the bills... well, not my bills at least.
