So my wife found a rather crude (though non-sexual) stream of texts going to my daughter on her phone. My daughters responses were mostly single word, non-commital (No, Okay, ect)

We initially believed this to be another child at her school and questioned her to find out who and advise her not to hang out with them anymore.

After going through the texts and questioning her, we tied this to another friend of hers being discussed, and things didn't add up, so we called that parent.

That parent investigated and found a similar text stream with her daughter, who had apparently met the person on Roblox and exchanged numbers with them, and had then been fished for information and phone numbers of other children, to include my daughter, on the pretense that she was a pre-teen girl of the same age and already new these people.

Do you know Jenny?
She can be annoying.
She cheated on her boyfriend.
He is hot AF.

Luckily, my daughter gave no information, and I can easily solve the proble for us by blocking this suck mother****er, but I feel the need for retribution.

Obviously, my first thought was to bait them into meeting me in public and beating their ass.

However, realistically, is there anything the cops would be able to do in this situation?

What is my move?

So do you have the possible perps (it could be another kid, I hope) number in the texts?

Psute is absolutely correct, this is grooming behavior. I don't know how large your local police department is but definitely contact them. If your daughter's school has a police officer working as a school resource officer, contact him or her. Once again it will depend on the size of department on whether the school resource officer handles it at their level or sends it to a child abuse detective to handle. From there it can go many different directions.

There is always the possibility it is another kid but none of this will be known until some type of investigative work is done.

We waited all day for this, and there is no mention of castration, or anything. I for one, am disappointed.

Ha, no kidding. Even I am disappointed but this morning I was high on coffee and had a million thoughts going through my head on this type of investigation.

This afternoon I am worn out and decided to give readers digest version.

What state do you live in?

I believe you have gotten some great advice and I would like to add something that may or may not help. IF you live in a small town and the texts appear to be coming from another jurisdiction, then the state police may be the ones you need to report this to. I would ask the local Chief of Police or County Sherriff whichever is applicable.

Number was far outside of our area code...

You can always give this organization a call or leave a tip. We would receive tips from them to investigate.
