2 of them. A Salty Piece of Land and A Pirate Looks at Fifty.

This thing called life is so interesting. You know my hearing situation. Well this afternoon I was on the road for a bit. Since I don’t listen to tunes on the radio , old songs pop in my head. Of all days, today “ A Pirate looks at 40” was stuck in my head.
I think I read Tales from Margaritaville back in the day, but I'm not positive.
I own it as well!
Last night they did a test on the water from the flooded boreholes and found silver and its alloys that would be present with a large deposit of old silver. For the first time, I now am starting to think that there is treasure on Oak Island. I am still very skeptical about any Templar connection but first things first.
The thing with the Templars is that I have read so many stories that are wildly off that I am really skeptical of almost any Templar connections cited. I am not saying that they did not exist nor there is not a horde of Templar treasure some where but I want proof before I jump over that cliff. I absolutely hope they find something major but until last night there was zero scientific proof that anything is in the money pit. TBH, I thought the major discovery on the island would be historical in the sense that earlier exploration/settling of the continent than history as it is taught now would be rewritten.Spoiler alert, dude. I worked last night. Just kidding. That's pretty awesome. I'm still holding out for the Templar connection.
The Templars were deemed heretics and killed off by the King of France. He tortured and executed many of them, but quite a few probably escaped. Some Templar ships that were docked off the coast of France disappeared the night before the roundup. One particularly prominent belief is that members of the Knights Templar carried off their wealth on these ships.
The quest to track down this ‘lost fleet’, and the associated riches, continues. As Sean Martin, author of The Knights Templar, puts it: ‘How many Templar ships sailed from La Rochelle in the autumn of 1307 is unknown – what they were carrying likewise – but one thing is known: the Templar fleet vanished utterly.
Confirmation of the disappearance of the treasure was made by John of Chalons, a Templar sergeant, who gave evidence at his own trial. Chalons said that some of the Templars had been tipped off about the arrests and a a group of 24 brave Knights managed to sneak the gold, silver, and jewels out of Paris in three wagons covered over with hay.
HiI do a lot of “treasure hunting” for a hobby.
Mainly looking for Civil War relics and old coins.
Matter of fact, that’s what i’m doing this week in Mississippi. Digging in the dirt and mud.

I totally agree. IMHO were the only "treasure" found a confirmation of earlier settlements/travelers then it is well worth the expense. I do hope they find actual treasure as proof but that is just icing on the cake. It would make my putter flutter were someone like the Minoans found to have had the capabilities. There's lots of shit about the Templars that has been exaggerated and blown out of proportion by Hollywood, but there is also documented history. I say that with the understanding that history is written by the victors and that it's rewritten often.
As an old Analyst, I'm stuck on rule number 1. "The most likely answer, is usually the correct answer."
I firmly believe that North America was explored and settled by "outsiders" long before Columbus. There are too many stories from different Native American tribes nationwide for that to not be true.
Haven't they found bronze age spear points around the Mediterranean that test to the same copper found in Michigan?I totally agree. IIRC they have. Plus there are two or three Viking buildings in Newfoundland that match 12th through13th century Viking architecture. It was not a one off trip but a couple of centuries that the Vikings were here.Haven't they found bronze age spear points around the Mediterranean that test to the same copper found in Michigan?
For the first time I believe that there is enough tangible evidence to say that there is treasure on the island in the form of precious metals. Up until this year I thought there could be treasure but mostly in the form historical artifacts that would rewrite the known history of North American exploration. I still believe that is true but it will come with a large cache of silver and possibly gold.Welp......now we wait until next season. We got lots of answers this year, but those answers brought a shitload more questions. I'm more convinced than ever that there is valuable treasure in the ground. I wanted to believe 40+ years ago when I first read about Oak Island. Now I do believe.
The biggest thing was that water and sediment samples from some of the bore holes were tested and contain amounts of silver and silver alloys used in making coinage in high amounts ... basically there is no explanation other than there are still silver deposits under water in these holes. Given the level of silver/alloys in the water, the silver deposit is large. The only other possible explanation that I can think of that would produce these results would be if there was a silver mine on Oak Island that was lost to history. So what happened? @batchaps4me @OldDevilDawg
Thanks. Sounds like they will be doing some more digging. The biggest thing was that water and sediment samples from some of the bore holes were tested and contain amounts of silver and silver alloys used in making coinage in high amounts ... basically there is no explanation other than there are still silver deposits under water in these holes.
