Rivals Refugee Check in Thread

Nice! I've got several from that era. (1905 Mannlicher, 1907 Roth Steyr, 1912 Steyr Hahn, Campo Giro). For WWI I've mostly focused on mouse guns. I have all of them except the FN 1900 which I need to get....one of the ones in the correct serial range to have been bought by the Belgian military. I still have a ways to go with the main sidearms like the Glisenti, Artillery Luger, Mauser C-96, WW1 Vintage Colt 1911, Grandpapa Nambu, etc.

My main focus has been on getting all the German sidearms for WWII.....that basically means every handgun in Europe at the time. I've got a bunch but still have a ways to go.
This bad boy below arrived today. I too still need a Glisenti, but I've yet to find one under $1800 (usually they're over $2000) which seems a little steep to me. Still need a Frommer Stop which I believe you already have. I've been trying to find all the WWI semi-autos but some are just too much $. I have an extra 1912 Steyr and that short 1905 Mannlicher that I do not need, so I'll likely sell them and use the money to buy a different one I want. An authentic dated 1911 Colt is usually around $2000 or more, again too much, and so is an artillery Luger. I'll be bidding on a 1914 Mauser soon and should not have to pay more than $500 for that. Also think I can get an FN 1903 at a reasonable price. But the one I really want most is the Bergmann-Bayard but I've yet to see one go for under $3000. British semi-autos are also too steep for me. I'll just have to live with my Webley Mk IV .455. She's a beauty and I bought it at a great price, $600 if I recall correctly, and if you run out of bullets you could beat someone to death with it as it is so big and heavy.

So what's the deal with that barrel on your short 1905 Mannlicher? It looks rather unusual and I'm jealous. The grips are sensational.

I have a frommer stop.....one in 7.65 and one in 380 and a baby stop.

Good story on this one. I bought it for cheap ($500) because it didn't work. I figured I'd take it to the gunsmith and get it working. When I got it and took it apart to clean it I noticed it had big gobs of dried grease in it. Somebody had used a lot of grease on it (good) but it had been put away so long the grease had hardened. When I got it all out, the thing ran just fine.

I've definitely seen prettier baby stops but they're really hard to find in any condition.

I have an Astra Ruby....I have a thing for Star and Astra - I own a bunch of those.

I too want a Bergmann-Bayard. Specifically I want one of the ones that was in Danish service. Those were all handed over to the Nazis when the country was invaded. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have one of the ones that's waffenamt stamped, but there are only 6 of those in the world. One of the guys on Lugerforums has one and I'm super jealous. What I'll probably end up settling for is one of the ones that was reworked during the war - we know all of those were handed over to the Luftwaffe. Those will say "DK42" or "DK43" on the right side of the blade in the front. Here are a couple examples:
(Look at pic #8) https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1093875965

or (look at pic #9) https://legacy-collectibles.com/rar...military?searchid=20892&search_query=bergmann

That's one of the Nazi guns I want that I haven't bought yet. As you can see they typically run $3500-$4000.

Short 1905 Mannlicher? I don't have one of the short ones. Here is mine:

Some of the ones I want but don't have yet are a Bergmann #3 model 1896. These puppies will run you a good $5000

and a spanish Charola Anitua. Nice ones like this typically run about $2000

I dunno if you've tried it, but I would suggest Proxibid. You can very often find great stuff at one of the various auction houses at prices that will beat gunbroker.

PS. I know you were looking for this

They've got 15 boxes of the stuff and the price ain't bad. Like I said last time though, this is from the last batch of ammo that was made for it in Argentina in 1947. The primers have gotten hard on all of these. so if you want to shoot 'em you're gonna have to reload with new primers.

OK, I mistook your Roth-Sauer for a short 1905 Mannlicher. Your 1905 Mannlicher is in really great shape. It looks a lot better than mine and mine's in better than "good" shape.

That guy on gunbroker is at $67 for only 10 rounds, and all have stiff primers. I've been told 30 super carry is extremely close to 7.65x21 and can be converted to 1905 Mannlicher, I just need to find someone who reloads to do that for me, and let him test fire it first. Found this on reddit:

"7.63x21mm uses the same .308, 85gr bullet, but is in a shorter, straight-walled case. You can use otherwise unmodified .30 Super Carry brass and run it through .308 pistol dies (.30 Luger, 7.63 Mauser, 7.65 TOK, etc.) with a 7.65 French shell holder. I also have CH4D 7.65 Mann dies, and they don't really work any better, tbh. Cheaper and easier just to buy Lee 7.65 MAS and .30 Luger dies and not wait a year. I use the PPU .3065 TOK bullets with 2.4gr of WIN 231. Runs good in both of my 1905s."

Also found this online: "Yes you can use the [30 super carry] brass. I've been loading the Sierra 85 grain 0.308 diameter round nose soft point."

OK. Didn't know that about 30 super carry and didn't realize he wanted that for 10 rounds. I thought he meant the whole box. I've got a bunch of rounds but I don't dare fire them because of the stiff primer issue.
