Russia v Ukraine just began 6 mins ago

KYIV, Ukraine — The commander and staff of a Russian battalion take over a home near the Ukrainian town of Irpin north of Kyiv. They demand food from the elderly woman living there, and she reluctantly complies. She’s alone; her husband is dead, and her son is away in the army. While preparing the food she adds a liberal dose of laxatives to the commander’s meal. These soon take effect, and as his subordinates settle down for the night, the commander rushes to the wooden outhouse – a common fixture of rural Ukrainian homes even in the 21st century. The woman waits until he is mid-void before dousing the sides of the outhouse with gasoline and setting it alight. By the time his horrified companions break down the door, the commander is charbroiled, and the woman is gone.

Finally found a pretty good theory as to why the Russians aren't fully committing their air assets and haven't achieved air superiority in Ukraine.

The first issue is coordination. In the weeks leading up to the invasion, Russia deployed army-level command and control equipment to various staging areas. One can assume that operative manoeuvre groups comprising roughly 12 to 20 battalion tactical groups are led by an army headquarters. But there was little evidence of Russia operating brigade commands between the army and battalion levels in the first – blitzkrieg – phase of the war. It may have improvised some in the second phase. When commanders attempt to lead too many elements of a force at once, they are overwhelmed and become unable to coordinate operations effectively. It is fair to conclude that this is what happened to the Russian military in Ukraine.

This problem is even acute for combat-support troops. For example, four air defence batteries from different units do not equate to an air defence battalion. Air defence battalion and regiment command structures need to coordinate firing sectors with one another and with aerospace forces. Without such coordination, air defence units cannot identify friendly aircraft, and vice versa. As a consequence, aircraft cannot effectively engage in close air support operations for fear of being shot down by their own air defence systems. And they cannot attack radars and air defence systems without a high risk of destroying friendly units – especially if the warring sides are using the same military systems. Equally, air defence units are reluctant to engage targets because they cannot distinguish between friend and foe. This is exactly what is happening to the Russian military in Ukraine. Kyiv’s Bayraktar drones are taking out Russian air defence systems at an astonishing rate.

That amazes me if the author is correct. It's hard to imagine them not having brigade size commands for the invasion ... that is some Soviet era thinking. I was honestly thinking the reason was that Russia's army was in the same shape as when the USSR dissolved, namely looked good on paper but so underfunded that necessary maintenance to keep the equipment usable was not available. Occam's Razor strongly suggests that the author is correct.

I wonder how many times Putin would shit his pants if a fleet of stealth bombers just flew over the Ukraine?

Anyone who loves freedom is on Ukraine's side. Fuck off Putin. He is the 21st century's answer to Hitler, just took longer to consolidate power. Needs to be squached like a bug before he starts WWIII by attacking a NATO country. He wants to threaten Nukes on an offensive war. Would love to see the Ukraine take the war to his homeland, but they lack the ability...

I really hope I am wrong but I think Russia is trying to bait the U.S into it so that when China moves on Taiwan we will be fighting on 2 fronts. I believe this is why Russia has been taking so long, acting bogged down, attacking civilian targets, trying to goad us and nato into retaliation. And if Ukraine dosen't work a neighboring nato country will. I'm of the assumption that Russia has hardly put forth any real effort, they are just using Ukraine as a pawn, and China is using Russia as one for world domination. Let Russia burn their military up first, while in turn burning the USA's as well.

Orbital Weaponry?

"He said, 'There's some miracle that happened. It looked like an attack (on the Russians) from a spaceship. There was some kind of lightning shooting from the sky,'" Lytvynenko told CBN News. "And sparks were spreading everywhere."

In the morning, they (the Ukrainian troops) discovered the Russian tanks and other mobile units had been destroyed.

Agree 100% ^^ ... but know this ... this war could have been avoided if the US (Democrats and RINO's) hadn't meddled in Ukraine politics. It started with Bush Jr and Soros (Orange Revolution) and continued with Obama (US funded Maidan Revolution) and they kept it up. Zelensky is a slimeball who had his political opponents arrested right after he was elected and followed it up by shutting down media outlets that criticized him. He kept taking US money while the US expanded its military training bases in western Ukraine and all the while the US establishment knew there was a chance of repercussion from Putin just like there was in 2014. Never forget that it was the US embassy in Ukraine who fvcked Trump the hardest during the fake impeachment.

This is China's doing. In the west Nato can't stand without the US against Russia, in the East we have a treaty to protect Taiwan, divide the US between 2 fronts. After Nato is embroiled in Europe, China moves on Taiwan while beefing up a token force on the border of india to cause problems there, while North Korea fires on South Korea and our base in Japan. China gets Pakistan to attack India as well , keeping India occupied and stuck at home. The US attacks Chinese forces in Taiwan and also North Korean forces in North Korea. North Korea using a Chinese rocket hits the west coast of the US with a nuke. Every battle ship in the Pacific is targeted immediately by China with missiles and sunk. Australia enters the war and China tries to knock out what navy and Air they have.

NATO is a joke these days. It's the US and a bunch of nobody's other than the Brits and Poles who both still have a substantial military. Woke western Europe went down the sh1tter along time ago military wise.

Here's an example of where most NATO countries are at.

Knowing this, Trump told NATO to start paying their promised 2% of GDP towards defense spending and this is how the establishment media treated him.

Trump’s NATO parade of falsehoods and misstatements

And after Russia invaded Ukraine this last time this is what happened.
