We'll see how Deboer's offensive mind works under pressure. IMO, When he runs into Glenn Schumann in Tuscaloosa next year, he'll be facing the best defensive coach in the game. Saban and Kirby have said as much.Lanning is a great young coach. DeBoer is the best offensive coach in the game IMO. Both of those statements can be true.
Schumann is a RELENTLESS, ELITE recruiter. His pedigree, work ethic, and determination, are second to none. He's been a disciple of Saban and Smart since his Freshman year at Alabama. Both told stories of him being in the room for defensive game planning with them every week of the season as a student assistant. Kirby said this past season that Schumann "has millions of defensive adjustments that he makes on the fly, play after play after play".Schumann will be a great head coach some day. That said, DeBoer is the real deal! Best offensive coach in football right now IMO. The only question is about his ability to recruit at the highest level.

Luckily Alabama recruits itself at the moment.Schumann will be a great head coach some day. That said, DeBoer is the real deal! Best offensive coach in football right now IMO. The only question is about his ability to recruit at the highest level.
Right now I would put Bama in the 10-15 range and drop UW out of my pre-season top 25 until that new hire. Hell, if UW hits a homer hire, they will be lucky to sniff the 12 team playoff next year simply because of how many starters and backups they had this year that have exhausted their eligibility. Think 2022 TCU versus 2023 TCU.Alabama was ranked preseason at 4 -
with the coaching change,
would that affect the rankings,
if they were to have another vote?
i'd suspect UW would fall from 10,
pending the new hire -

5 NAIA NattysIt will be interesting to see who he puts on the staff. I think he needs some assassins on the trail.
As far as coaching, look at his record everywhere he's been. Dude very rarely loses.

USC at #6?yep -
i'd drop em below 11 Texas,
and maybe even 12 & 13 Tenn & ND,
but still above the B12 schools -

oh shit -USC at #6?
Washington finished the 2022 season ranked #8th in the final polls. USC didn't finish in the top 10 tmk after losing to Tulane.oh shit -
just noticed that was last years!
what a maroon -
Bama can't afford Schumann unless they give him the job he's spent his entire adult life working for. HC at his Alma Mater.Watch Schumann be the first staffer hired.
I was gonna say holy hell they hate Mizzou!oh shit -

I ain't lying when I say that I think Drink would have been a better hire than Deboer. You and I both know if Bama went after him, they would have got him.I was gonna say holy hell they hate Mizzou!
