Season proficiency ratings title contenders

wow!
didn't realize he went all the way back to 1875 -

that dude has put in some serious work
in his analysis -
It's not my method. It's Sports Reference. SRS. I couldn't be doing any of this without their assistance. I hope I do them justice. My method really isn't included but I guess the whole batting 1.000 ought to be the paradigm. I will make a few concessions, probably. Should I exclude s team with a 99.0 cumulative proficiency rating? How strict ought this to be? Ultimately the teams selected will have to have met the most stringent selection protocol possible. Hopefully it will remove questions about legitimacy. Feel free to offer any advice. This isn't set in marble. I'm a flexible guy. But I want the end result to be fantastic. I hope I won't disappoint anyone and I pray to God it will reflect fairly the nature of sport.

So I must be wrong about everything else, too. Is that the argument you're making? That's been tried before. If I make a mistake then I'm completely wrong about anything else I might be right about otherwise. GMAFB. I make mistakes. I must be human. I think it's kind of funny how people use my humanity against me in circumstances such as this. What I'm doing is cracking a code. I don't expect anything in return. Show me the method you initiated that works better. Yeah I was wrong. Probably hit the wrong key.
I just saw a documentary in the Zodiac killer. Someone cracked it. The 340 cipher. But there were spelling errors among other things. By the Zodiac mostly. Should we condemn it because it wasn't rendered perfectly? I even helped a little. They got part of the transcription wrong. You are like the pebble in a person's shoe. You don't have anything constructive to offer just criticism.
I know there are mistakes. I doubt it limited to one so where else am I mistaken? I mean since you obviously know better than I do. Shouldn't be hard to find every mistake I do.
Can’t argue with that.

Can’t argue with that.
It's a tough assignment. I hope I'm up to the challenge. It should make selection easier. That's all assuming I know what I'm doing. So many of the things I do require patience. I hope I will get the final tally correct. I will try.

yer doin a great job!
jeep fightin the good fight -
Hopefully it will demonstrate how tough it is to claim a championship at the Division I level. You asked why there are so many examples of teams eclipsing the barrier Particularly early on? I can't answer other than there must have been a lot more really good teams in that era. Three seem to be fewer now. But it's nevertheless remarkable ANY time a team breaks the barrier. It might seem common but I bet if you asked those involved they would sing a different tune. When I participated in team athletics it was rare for me to win a competition. I mostly lost. That isn't humility, unfortunately. I sucked nor was it about effort expended. I tried my best but was simply beaten back.
So don't feel any sympathy. I'm a dope.

That would be quite an assumption.
What do you mean? I will get it right. I'm nit assuming anything. Plus I think you meant to say that's quite the presumption. I presume to know tye metric behind the madness. I base it upon my intelligence. Thus isn't much different than codebreaking. The truth is already out there somewhere. I'm simply recovering what's already been. And like I said, assuming I get it right (which admittedly would be a remarkable accomplishment) doesn't necessarily reflect upon me. I didn't do the work. I'm not responsible for the result. If I get it correct, and I'm certainly hoping I do, tye credit belongs to the individual responsible for it. That isn't me. That's been tye problem tye entire time and it mostly pisses me off. If people don't like the message delivered they gang up on the messenger. I'm him. I'm tye guy delivering the pizza you ordered. Don't blame me if it isn't cooked to your satisfaction. That's not what I do. Someone else prepared it. I'm simply the pizza boy.

Don't play one on tv. Didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn last nite but I did go to college and get my degree.
Better than anything I could hope for. Seriously. I never graduated college. 3.0 institution G.P.A. University of Colorado. B average. But I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night! I'm sorry this is such a long drawn out process. It's aggravating.
But I'm making slow but steady progress.
Brigham Young (by my method, obviously) secures a national championship.
I doubt that surprises anyone. But they claim it as a result of four successful seasons (all three prior to 1984). You might ask yourself how that's even possible?
I get by with a little help from my friends!
I figured out why people are confused.
1984 wasn't a remarkable season for BYU.
Like I said it was the last of four remarkable. Believe it or not they claim a NC on the heels of three other teams!
This will revolutionize the industry.
It will be fun proving people wrong. F.W.I.W.
If people don't want to utilize my metric, o.k. fine by me. Another thing I discovered.
Similar I guess to Brigham Young's NC. (except that Brigham Young required assistance). UCF actually legitimizes one based entirely upon one season, repeated.
2013 & 2017. If I'm allowed to group those two seasons together (share a NC, effectively between two teams). So does UCF. Admittedly those are things most people aren't calculating. I am. UCF secured a legitimate NC by combining those two 'nes miss' seasons together.
No, it isn't cheating. Basically it's ONE NC but shared between two teams four years apart. Unusual? Yes. Impossible? No. Fair? I think so. Success isn't created in a vacuum. UCF deserves as much credit as anyone else does for their success.
Another thing I discovered. Air Force if combined with Colorado acquire a NC.
Co- Champions. Pretty awesome stuff.
One. Obviously. Not multiple. Only one.

yep, and this dude would have to been
at least a 3.0 gpa engineer,
to put this kind of analysis together -
It should be informative as well as entertaining. This isn't easy for me. To put it mildly I've really had to stretch the limits of my imagination to get where I am today. Whether or not it will pass muster remains yo be seen. Truth be told I'm not especially smart. People were much smarter than I was. I did study engineering. I was hoping to use my intelligence as a career. But I never graduated. So you're getting table scraps.

Speaking of college/degrees, here's a "proficiency" rating maybe.

How many people actually got a degree that was worth something in the job market?

interesting question -

got one buddy,
got his degree in photography -
he's an engineer with UP-SP
pullin trains -

another buddy,
with a forestry degree -
engineer with Halliburton
runnin wireline in the hole -

Double BS in Accounting and MIS. Really opened doors.

My wife and daughter of course think double BS is what I’m full of.
My education for what it's worth hasn't really opened any doors I can think of. I'm not upset about it though. I like proving people wrong. Not because I am necessarily any smarter than the average bear. I just like being right. It's an ego thing I guess. I find it ironic you guys take the same avenue others have. Tye question isn't about intelligence.
It's about perseverance and tenacity.
You won't get any argument from me about my nit being especially smart. But I'm usually right. Meaning you can take me down. But I'll get back up. Until I win. Meaning it isn't about being right. It's about treating me with some modicum of respect.
